The Gaza Ministry of Health held a press conference saying Palestinians captured by Israeli forces in Gaza were being tortured and held in poor condition. The ministry also said it had been able to reopen the medical facilities al-Arabi Hospital, Patient Friend’s Benevolent Society, Assahaba Medical Complex, al-Helou International Hospital, and several first aid centers. The U.S. department of justice said that the Israeli spy Jonathan Pollard finished his parole and is now free to move to Israel. It had been uncertain if Pollard would have his parole extended since U.S. national security officials have objected to allowing Pollard’s parole to expire. Pollard was arrested in 1985 for spying on the U.S. on behalf of Israel and was handed a life sentence. He was released in 2015 but with limitations on his movement and he was banned from making public statements as part of his parole. Pollard was given Israeli citizenship in 1995 and Israeli prime ministers have long sought to have him released to Israel, where he is perceived as a hero. A group of Democratic senators in the U.S. congress introduced a draft resolution opposing possible Israeli annexation of the West Bank. In the West Bank, a group of Israeli settlers attacked Jibiya village north of Ramallah overnight by throwing stones, leading to 2 Palestinian injuries. Settlers also attacked Palestinian shepherds in the northern Jordan Valley. In East Jerusalem, the Islamic Waqf Council Chairman Sheikh Abdel-Azim Salhab returned to Haram al-Sharif after a 40-day ban issued by Israeli authorities. In Gaza, 4 Palestinian fishermen detained last week by Egyptian authorities were released. Meanwhile, IDF troops conduct further raids and house searches late at night nr. Ramallah and nr. Hebron, arresting 10 Palestinians and issuing an arrest summons to 1; and patrol during the day nr. Hebron, Nablus, and Qalqilya. Israeli forces uproot around 50 olive trees outside a village nr. Tulkarm, and demolish 7 homes outside Sa‘ir village nr. Hebron, 3 homes and a room in Bayt Jala nr. Bethlehem, and 1 home outside Duma village nr. Nablus. In East Jerusalem, Israeli forces demolish a stable in Jabal Mukabir and a car showroom in Anata, and forcibly disperse Palestinian protesters at a sit-in in solidarity with Palestinian prisoners at a Red Crescent office in Sheikh Jarrah. Along Gaza’s border, IDF troops arrest 4 Palestinians after they cut through the border fence and enter Israeli territory. It is unclear what they intended to do.
