In the West Bank, 1 Israeli settler was killed near the Hermesh settlement; the Al-Aqsa Martyr’s Brigades took responsibility, calling it revenge for Israeli attacks on the organization. Israeli forces subsequently closed multiple checkpoints in and around Tulkarm. Israeli settlers raided Jalud, throwing stones and attempting to set fire to a house. When Israeli forces showed up, they violently dispersed Palestinian protesters, injuring 3 with baton rounds. Israeli settlers also threw stones at Palestinian-owned vehicles traveling near Yasuf and Ya’bad. Elsewhere, Israeli settlers erected tents near Deir Istiya. Israeli settlers also vandalized Palestinian-owned vehicles near the Homesh settlement outpost. Israeli forces raided Askar refugee camp, injuring 1 with a baton round and 44 with tear gas. Israeli forces seized 2 bulldozers and 1 tractor in al-Walaja. Israeli forces also issued stop-work orders for 2 homes and 1 water well in the Masafer Yatta area and 8 stop-work orders for homes in Deir Balut. Elsewhere, Israeli forces raided a school in Huwwara, causing tear-gas related injuries. 2 Palestinian minors were arrested during a raid in Silwad. In East Jerusalem, Israeli settlers, led by former MK Yehuda Glick, toured the Haram al-Sharif compound. In Gaza, Israeli forces made incursions and leveled land east of Gaza City. Israeli national security advisor Tzachi Hanegbi told Army Radio that normalization with Saudi Arabia depends on what the U.S. “is willing to pay for a deal.” Regarding reporting that Saudi Arabia wants a nuclear program in return for normalization, Hanegbi said that the “Americans will not advance on this issue with the Saudis without being in close contact with us.” (MEE, REU 5/30; HA 5/31; MEE 6/5; ALM 6/6)

In the West Bank, Israeli settlers attacked 1 Palestinian farmer with a metal bar while he was working his land east of Hebron, causing head injuries. Israeli forces shot and killed 3 Palestinians and wounded 10 others during a raid in Jenin refugee camp. Islamic Jihad said that the 3 men were members of their organization. The PA condemned the killings. Israeli forces also violently dispersed Palestinian protesters in Kafr Qaddum, injuring 11 with baton rounds and others with tear gas. Elsewhere, Israeli forces violently dispersed Palestinian protesters in Beita, injuring 4 with baton rounds and others with tear gas. Israeli forces also violently dispersed Palestinian protesters in Burin, injuring 5 Palestinians and 2 solidarity activists with baton rounds; 22 others suffered tear-gas related injuries. Meanwhile, Israeli forces delivered demolition notices for 13 residential structures, 4 outhouses, and 1 water well in Khirbat al-Dabi‘I in the Masafer Yatta area. In Gaza, 1 Israeli observation balloon fell in Gaza and Israeli forces fired at Palestinians retrieving the balloon after it fell; no injuries were reported. 2 Palestinians were indicted for assaulting 1 Israeli police officer in Isawiya after the Israeli police officer fired 17 shots in the air. The 2 Palestinians were not indicted for assaulting a police officer as the prosecution believed that they did not know he was an officer, but had entered the neighborhood to threaten Palestinians. The police officer claimed he had entered the neighborhood by mistake while traveling with another police officer and his brother. (HA 6/18)

In the West Bank, Israeli settlers threw stones at 2 Palestinian farmers tending their land in Shushahla near Bethlehem. Israeli settlers also attacked Palestinians who were trying to force settlers to leave their land near Susiya. Israeli forces raided a high school east of Qalqilya. Israeli forces also delivered a stop-work order for a water well and seized a drill in al-Khadir. Elsewhere, Israeli forces raided 1 high school in Qalqilya; no arrests were made. 5 Palestinians were arrested during late-night raids in and around Hebron. A member of Gaza’s pandemic task force warned that Gaza was inching toward inability to cope with the COVID-19 pandemic as 79 of 100 ventilators in Gaza are in use. (REU 11/22)

Axios reported that Israeli officials said Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu traveled to the Saudi Arabian city Neom to meet with Saudi crown prince Mohammed bin Salman and U.S. secretary of state Mike Pompeo for a secret meeting. Neither side confirmed the meeting, but a public flight radar showed a private plane flying from Tel Aviv to Neom. It was also reported that the director of the Mossad Yossi Cohen took part in the meeting. Earlier in the day, Prime Minister Netanyahu said at a memorial for David Ben-Gurion that U.S. president-elect Joe Biden should not rejoin the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action. In the West Bank, Israeli settlers attacked 1 Palestinian near Khan al-Ahmar, who was taken to a hospital in Jericho. Israeli forces began expanding a settler-only road built on Palestinian-owned land connecting 2 Israeli settlements near Nahalin. Israeli forces also delivered stop-work orders for 2 houses near Yatta and 1 water well and 1 agricultural structure near Salfit. Elsewhere, Israeli forces delivered an eviction order to 1 Palestinian living on 6 dunams (1.5 acres) of land in al-Khadir, near an Israeli settlement. 5 Palestinians were arrested during raids in and around Ramallah, Bayt Umar, and Yatta. In East Jerusalem, 1 Palestinian family started demolishing their own home in Silwan to avoid exorbitant Israeli demolition fees. 17 Palestinians were arrested, including 9 during late-night raids in Issawiyya and 8 at Bab al-Rahma in the Old City. In the West Bank, Israeli forces delivered demolition notices for residential structures, 1 stable, and 1 stone wall; a stop-work notice for a water well and fencing in al-Walaja; and demolished and seized 5 tin structures in Sawahara al-Sharqiyya. 19 Palestinians were arrested during raids in and around Hebron, al-‘Arub refugee camp, al-Fawar refugee camp, Nahalin, Nablus, and Bardala. In East Jerusalem, Israeli forces demolished 1 house in Silwan, displacing a family of 9. Israeli forces also violently dispersed Palestinian protesters demonstrating against the killing of an unarmed Palestinian man on 5/30; 6 people were arrested. Another 3 Palestinians were arrested during raids in Issawiyya. In Israel, Israeli forces violently dispersed hundreds of Palestinian citizens of Israel protesting against the planned demolition of an 18th-century Muslim burial ground in Jaffa. PA prime minister Mohammad Shtayyeh told journalists that if Israel moves forward with annexing West Bank territory, the PA would declare an independent state along the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as the capital. Prime Minister Shtayyeh further stated that the PA had sent a counterproposal to the U.S. peace plan to the Quartet. (AJ, HA, REU 6/9)

The Israeli high court of justice ruled the “Law for the Regularization of Settlement in Judea and Samaria [the West Bank]” unconstitutional. The law was approved in 2017 and allowed use of Palestinian-owned land to build settlements and legalize settlement outposts. (HA, NYT, REU 6/9; WAFA 6/10)

In the West Bank, Israeli settlers with Israeli force protection razed 47 dunams (11.6 acres) of Palestinian-owned land between Dayr Dibwan and Rammun. Israeli forces prevented Palestinian worshippers from accessing al-Ibrahimi Mosque. Israeli forces also demolished 1 agricultural shed in Aqraba and delivered demolition notifications for 10 water wells in al-Zawiya. 2 Palestinians were arrested at checkpoints near Qalqilya and Nablus. In East Jerusalem, authorities banned 1 Palestinian Waqf guard from entering the Haram al-Sharif compound for 6 months. 4 Palestinians were arrested during late-night raids in Issawiyya. In Gaza, 1 Palestinian minor was killed after picking up an unexploded ordinance near his home in Bayt Lahiya. The ICC requested from the PA clarification about which agreements with Israel it had ended as this could affect the ICC probe into war crimes committed by Israel and Hamas in the occupied Palestinian territories. (HA 5/27)

In the West Bank, Israeli forces injured 2 Palestinians using rubber-coated bullets during clashes in Bayt Umar; 1 was hospitalized for his injures. Israeli forces demolished a water well in al-Zawiya and delivered demolition orders for 4 residential structures near Jenin. In East Jerusalem, the Jerusalem Magistrate’s Court ruled to evict 26 Palestinians from their family home in Silwan. It was the 2d ruling this week in which Palestinians were ordered evicted based on claims that their homes were built on land that was owned by Jews prior to 1948. In Gaza, for the 2d day in a row, Israeli forces struck targets in Gaza, causing damage, after alleging that incendiary balloons were launched at Israel. 2 days before U.S. president Donald Trump was to unveil the U.S. peace plan, Israeli defense minister Naftali Bennet said, doing a speech at West Bank settlement, that “In no case, under no condition, will we allow for the establishment of a Palestinian state or recognition of such a state and we will not relinquish a single centimeter of the land of Israel to Arabs.” (HA 1/26)

In Iraq, 5 rockets were fired at the U.S. embassy compound in Baghdad. 1 hit a restaurant inside the compound, injuring 1. (HA 1/27)

In the West Bank, Israeli settlers razed land and set up a caravan on Palestinian-owned land near Bayt Jala. Israeli forces demolished a mosque, a water well, and a house under construction south of Hebron. Israeli forces also handed a stop-work order and confiscated 5 tents in Nahalin. 10 Palestinians were arrested, including 9 during late-night raids in and around Hebron, Bethlehem, and Ramallah, and 1 at a flying checkpoint in near Hebron. In East Jerusalem, Israeli state prosecution officials, including the state prosecutor, toured Haram al-Sharif with military escort; it was reported that the tour was done in coordination with the Islamic Waqf officials. Israeli forces arrested 10 Palestinians in Issawiyya and the Old City. In Israel, Israeli forces demolished the Bedouin village al-Araqib for the 157th time since 2010. OCHA reports that Israeli authorities in East Jerusalem demolished 1 Palestinian animal pen and forced a Palestinian family to demolish an extension to their home. Pro-Israel Republican donor Sheldon Adelson, who previously pledged to spend $100 m. of his personal wealth to defeat Obama in the 2012 presidential campaign, agrees to give at least $6.5 m. to fund a new advertising campaign (word of mouth, social media, television) by the Republican Jewish Coalition aimed at drawing Jewish voters in the key battleground states of Florida, Ohio, and Pennsylvania away from Pres.
