Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said the deal was likely to happen, despite opposition from National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir and Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich, and that Israel would continue its war on Gaza after the temporary ceasefire. The meeting of the government cabinet was still ongoing at the end of the day. It was reported by Haaretz that the Israeli public would have 24 hours to appeal to the Israeli High Court of Justice if the government decides to approve the deal. U.S. secretary of state Antony Blinken said President Abbas and “virtually every other leader that I have talked to in the region” warned against the idea of transferring Palestinians from Gaza to the Sinai Peninsula. Blinken also met with Egyptian president Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, announcing the Rafah crossing was open. It was unclear if it was only open for aid or for travel; reporting suggested it was not open for either. El-Sisi criticized Blinken for his remarks in Israel earlier in the week, when Blinken said he came to Israel “as a Jew,” and el-Sisi said the Israeli attacks on Gaza go beyond self-defense and amount to collective punishment. Off the coast of Gaza, Israeli naval forces opened fire on Palestinian fishermen 2 nautical miles west of Bayt Lahiya; no injuries were reported. In the West Bank, 8 Palestinians were arrested, including 4 during late-night raids in Bayt Umar: 1 at a checkpoint near Ramallah and 3 during a raid in Beitunia. Israeli forces also razed an area used as a sheep market near Hebron. Israeli settlers with military escort toured Awarta and threw stones at Palestinian vehicles near Nabi Salih, causing damage. In East Jerusalem, a Palestinian family of 5 was forced to demolish their own home in Jabal Mukabir. In Gaza, Israel conducted air strikes on targets in Gaza and reported that 1 rocket was launched from Gaza toward Israel; no injuries were reported. After Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu said his government was drawing up maps for annexation on 2/9, U.S. ambassador David Friedman warned that unilateral action by Israel to annex parts of the West Bank would result in withdrawal of U.S. support for Israel annexing West Bank settlements in the future. Prime Minister Netanyahu also said that Israel would hit Gaza with a “crushing blow” if rockets toward Israel continued. (HA, HA, REU 2/9)

In the West Bank, 1 Palestinian was killed and 1 injured when an Israeli bulldozer crashed into a vehicle west of Hebron. Israeli forces punitively demolished 4 homes of alleged attackers in Bayt Kahil near Hebron, demolished 1 Palestinian-owned house in Asira, and razed a tract of farmland near Husan. Israeli forces also stopped PA minister of culture Atef Abu Saif at the Qalandia checkpoint and told him he was banned from East Jerusalem. 10 Palestinians were arrested during late-night raids in and around Jenin, Ramallah, Hebron and, Nablus. Israeli settlers set fire to a Palestinian-owned vehicle and vandalized houses with racist graffiti northwest of Ramallah, cut 30 olive trees in al-Sawiya, and vandalized 4 vehicles in Dayr ‘Ammar. In East Jerusalem, 3 Palestinians were arrested in the Old City. In Israel, 40 vehicles were vandalized and racist graffiti was sprayed on walls in the predominantly Palestinian town of Jaljulia. The far-right government that took power after the coup in Bolivia announced that it will renew Bolivia’s diplomatic ties with Israel. The 2 counties have not had diplomatic ties since Operation Cast Lead in 2009. (HA 11/28)

The governments of the Brussels and Wallonia regions of Belgium said they had pulled out of a planned trade delegation going to Israel, citing Israeli violations of international law and lack of progress in the peace process. (HA 12/1)

In the West Bank, Israeli settlers slashed tires and sprayed racist graffiti on Palestinian-owned structures in Awarta near Nablus. In Hebron, a 10-year-old Palestinian boy was assaulted by Israeli settlers before he was taken to a hospital.  Israeli soldiers were injured when a Palestinian man rammed his car into the soldiers. In the West Bank, an Israeli settler shot and killed a 23-year-old Palestinian at the Huwwara checkpoint. A 22-year-old was taken to a hospital in Nablus for treatment of a gun wound sustained in the same incident. Eyewitnesses say that the settler blocked the road with his truck and shot at the 2 Palestinians. The settler claims that he was attacked by the 23-year-old. Separately, several Palestinian hikers were injured and 7 were arrested when Israeli forces attacked them while hiking a trail near ‘Ayn al-Hilwa in the West Bank. At night, hundreds of Israeli settlers and their military escort harassed residents of the West Bank village of Awarta. In Gaza, Israeli forces fired a missile at Palestinian teens for the 2d day. The missile hit Gaza City without causing injuries or damage. Israeli forces claimed that the teens were firing incendiary balloons. Separately, Israeli forces claimed that it had detonated several explosive devices thrown at the Gaza fence on 3/30. Israeli forces also conducted incursions for land levelling near al-Bureij refugee camp in Gaza. Meanwhile, off the coast of Gaza, Israeli naval forces shot at Palestinian fishermen inside of the permitted fishing zone. No injuries were reported. Later, Israeli forces shot live ammunition at 3 Palestinians who allegedly attempted to cross into Israel from Gaza. All 3 were taken to a hospital in Israel. In Israel, a Palestinian prisoner in the Negev prison was assaulted and transferred to an unknown location after he allegedly threw hot water on a prison guard. They also steal olives from 420 trees outside Awarta village near Nablus. IDF troops assault Palestinian farmers harvesting olives outside the nearby Eli settlement, causing no serious injuries. They also assault a Palestinian during an arrest raid in Hebron and arrest 2 Palestinians during a raid near Bethlehem. One day after being wounded in an alleged assassination attempt, senior Hamas military leader Abu Naim alleges that the attack was a politically motivated effort to undermine the ongoing Palestinian national reconciliation process. “The objectives of those who committed this despicable act will not be achieved,” he says. Israel’s Shin Bet accuses the Palestinian manager of the Gaza branch of World Vision, a Christian aid group, with redirecting around $43 m. of the group’s money to Hamas over the past 6 years. The manager, Mohammad Halabi, was arrested at the Erez border crossing on 6/15. Hours later, the Australian govt. suspends its funding of World Vision.
