Meanwhile, Israeli forces raze 500 dunams (approximately 123 acres) of Palestinian land near Nablus and cut down dozens of Palestinian trees near Hebron. Israeli border police arrest a Palestinian carrying pipe bombs into an Israeli military court near Nablus. Around 200,000 Palestinians from Israel, East Jerusalem, the West Bank, and Gaza pray at Haram al-Sharif throughout the day. However, only men above the age of 45 or those with special permits are allowed to enter the sanctuary. Palestinians entering Jerusalem from the West Bank comprise those accounted for in the standard weekly quota, according to a COGAT spokesperson; “Larger numbers were supposed to enter for Ramadan,” she says; “that has been canceled.” Across the oPt, IDF troops violently disperse Palestinians, Israelis, and international activists at Friday demonstrations against Israel’s occupation, separation wall, and settlements in 3 villages nr. In the wake of the deadly 6/8 attack in Tel Aviv, Israeli PM Netanyahu pledges to “act firmly.”Israeli authorities implement measures to crack down on Palestinians in Israel and the oPt: The IDF’s Coordination of Govt. Activities in the Territories Unit (COGAT) freezes the entry permits of more than 83,000 Palestinians, effectively barring them from entering Israel. This includes permits that were issued for Ramadan, and 204 issued to mbrs. of the attackers’ families prior to 6/8. COGAT also suspends all Gazans’ weekly trips to East Jerusalem (the suspension will prove temporary, covering only the 6/10 trip). Israel’s security cabinet meets in Tel Aviv to deliberate over additional measures to take in response to the attack. Afterward, DM Lieberman orders the IDF to suspend the return of all bodies of Palestinians killed in confrontations with Israeli forces. PA officials and Israel’s COGAT Mordechai reach an agreement for Israel to transfer the full amount of tax revenues collected on behalf of the PA from 12/2014 through 3/2015— approximately NIS 1.85 b., or $472 m.—by 4/20. They also agree that a joint Palestinian-Israel economic comm. will decide what amount should be returned to Israel to pay down Palestinian debts. Israel’s COGAT Mordechai announces that starting today, Palestinian vehicles from the West Bank will be allowed to enter Jerusalem. In the 1st of 2 planned stages, over 100 Palestinian doctors are allowed to enter. Unrestricted travel for Palestinian businessmen and women will follow in the next phase.
