In the West Bank, Israeli settlers attacked Palestinians in al-Mufaqra. Israeli forces detained journalist Basel Adra, who was covering the attack, for several hours and confiscated his phone. Israeli settlers also assaulted 1 Palestinian man at the Otniel settlement before he was arrested by Israeli forces. Elsewhere, Israeli settlers attacked a Palestinian home in Sebastia, before Israeli forces arrested 2 Palestinians defending the home. Israeli forces violently dispersed Palestinians protesting a raid in ‘Askar refugee camp, causing tear-gas related injuries. The Palestinian Water Authority said that the Israeli water company Mekorot had reduced the daily supply of water to Hebron and Bethlehem provinces to 6,000 cups. (WAFA 7/15; QDS 7/17)

In Lebanon, a group of Lebanese people, reported to be MP Kasem Hashem and journalists, entered an area claimed by Israel on border of Lebanon and the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights before being shot at by Israeli forces; no injuries were reported. (HA, WAFA 7/15)

Congressional Progressive Caucus leader Pramila Jayapal (D-CA) called Israel “a racist state” during a speech in Chicago. In the West Bank, IDF troops shoot and injure a Palestinian man and arrest 2 others on a raid in Dahaysha r.c. nr. Bethlehem overnight, and arrest a youth outside a settlement nr. Bethlehem for allegedly planning a stabbing attack in the evening. They also arrest 5 Palestinians during raids and house searches nr. Jenin, Tulkarm, Hebron, Bethlehem, and Ramallah, sparking minor clashes nr. Ramallah (there are no serious injuries). Meanwhile, Israeli forces level a 150-m fence in al-Aghwar. Mekorot, Israel’s national water company, justifies the demolition by citing plans for new pipes to supply a nearby settlement. Late at night in East Jerusalem, Israeli forces demolish a car showroom and 2 stores in Sur al-Bahir, and arrest 4 Palestinians during raids in Shu‘fat r.c. Along Gaza’s border, IDF troops open fire on Palestinian farmlands nr. Khan Yunis, causing no damage. Off the coast, Israeli naval forces open fire on Palestinian fishing boats nr. Off Gaza’s coast nr. Gaza City, Israeli naval forces fire warning shots at Palestinian fishing boats, causing damage to several. In the West Bank, the IDF conducts late-night raids in 2 villages nr. Hebron, 1 nr. Nablus, and Dahaysha r.c. nr. Bethlehem, arresting 6 Palestinians; patrols in al-‘Arub r.c. and 1 village nr. Hebron, and 1 village nr. Nablus. Israeli water company Mekorot cuts off the water supply to a number of areas in the n. West Bank. In East Jerusalem, Israeli forces assault and detain a Palestinian at Haram al-Sharif after the man is pushed by a right-wing Jewish activist; 1 other Palestinian is arrested after the confrontation. They also arrest 1 Palestinian on a late-night raid in Qalandia r.c. In Israel, around 100 PCI gather outside the Barzilai Medical Center to protest the proposed force-feeding of Palestinian prisoner Allan, and they clash with around 50 Jewish Israeli counterprotesters, who threw stones and bottles. Hamas leader Mishal leads a delegation to Turkey and meets with Turkish pres. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and PM Ahmet Davutoğlu about “activating the Palestinian cause on the regional and international levels,” according to Hamas sources. Meanwhile, Palestinians and Arab media outlets report that Mishal recently met with former Quartet envoy Blair for the 2d time in 6 weeks to discuss the prospects for Israel and Hamas reaching a long-term cease-fire. Occupied Palestine/Israel: Ahmed Salem sentenced to 6 yrs. by Lydd military court for membership in illegal organization. Ministerial economic Com. approves 18% wage hike for regular army soldiers. High Court issues order nisi against Interior Minister's ban on Fr. Fawzi Khouri's travel (3/30/84).

Arab World: Israeli water company Mekorot announces to interrupt water supply to Golan settlements, retaliating for independent water collective set up by settlers. Archaeology Dep't. fences off Tal Balata land area east of Nablus for confiscation, including Haj Ma'zouz alMasri and Qadri Toukan schools with 1500 students each.

Occupied Palestinle/Israel: Over 22 dunums belonging to residents of Hableh, Tulkarm district set ablaze by unidentified arsonists. Secondary students from Raineh beaten by Israeli soldiers near Tel Aviv central bus station.

Arab World: 3 Israeli troops killed, 3 wounded in ambush at IDF patrol near Syrian-controlled area of Beqaa.

Occupied Palestine/Israel: ICRC reports Israel failing to report arrests within 10- day limit. Nablus and Bethlehem residents complain of water shortages as Mekorot diverts supplies to Israeli settlements. Israel-American Zionists Assoc. in conjunction with Compass-Peltours and Israel Assoc. of Real Estate Dealers announce plan to offer US Jews lots (60' x 60') in occupied territories for $3,600 (including Israeli passport and subsidized mortgage options).
