The Washington Post published an investigation into an Israeli raid in Jenin on 3/16, detailing how Israeli forces killed a 14-year old Palestinian bystander while assassinating 2 Palestinians. The investigation also found that the 2 Palestinians who were targeted were not armed and confirmed initial reporting that 1 of the targets was shot several times despite being incapacitated. VICE released their own investigation into the death of Walid al-Sharif, who was shot on 4/22/2022 at the Haram al-Sharif compound, concluding that he died of a baton round to the head fired by Israeli forces. Israeli authorities had maintained that the 23-year-old had died because he fell while running from Israeli forces. Sharif fell into a coma after being hit by the baton round and died on 5/14/2022. The Palestinian prisoner Karim Younis was released after 40 years in Israeli prison for allegedly partaking in the kidnapping and killing of an Israeli soldier in 1980. Younis was driven to a train station in Ra’anana where a passerby helped him reach his family. The decision not to release him directly from the prison was made by Israeli national security minister Itamar Ben-Gvir. Israeli forces raided the offices of Union of Agricultural Work Committees, Al-Haq, Addameer, Bisan Research Center, Defense for Children International – Palestine, Union of Palestinian Women’s Committees, and Union of Health Work Committees. The raid was in response to Israel’s terrorist designations against the 7 organizations. The forces seized documents and equipment from some of the Palestinian rights organizations and sealed the doors of the offices. Breaking the Silence published testimonies from Israeli soldiers who previously served in the Civil Administration in a booklet called Military Rule, saying that Israeli settlers have direct involvement in shaping the policies of the Civil Administration. It also said that soldiers are given full access to sensitive information about Palestinians and that the Civil Administration arbitrarily rejects Palestinian entry permits and cancels visitation permits to family members of Palestinian prisoners on hunger strike to pressure the prisoners to end their strike. Haaretz reported that soldiers previously serving in the Civil Administration had told the newspaper about a secretive program where soldiers coerce Palestinians in the West Bank to provide information to the Civil Administration in exchange for easier access to travel permits. The Israel Religious Action Center released a study showing that between 2014 and 2021, 77% of indictments filed for incitement to violence and racism in Israel were filed against Palestinians. The study also showed that Israeli prosecutors tended to avoid filing incitement charges against rabbis. Islamic Jihad prisoners torched 8 cells in the Qetziot prison and 2 cells in the Ramon prison and clashed with guards after being told that the Israeli prison service would move them to other prisons as collective punishment for the prison escape by 6 Palestinians on 9/6.
