Occupied Palestine/Israel: Hadashot reports that MK Moshe Amirav recently met with PLO officials in Paris; meeting was arranged by Israeli officials wanting to establish ties with the PLO [JPS 6/22]. One-day strike is observed in the occupied territories [FJ 6/26]. Minister of Trade and Industry Ariel Sharon tells 'Al Hamishmar the situation in the occupied territories cannot continue; if Rabin is unable to control the occupied territories he should be replaced; and if Sharon had been D. M. in December the uprising would have never occurred [JPS 6/22].

Other Countries: Amnesty International asks Israel to investigate the use of tear gas to see if it caused the deaths of up to 40 people [NYT 6/23].

Military Action Occupied Palestine/Israel: Israeli troops open fire on demonstrators in Gaza Strip's Jenin refugee camp, wounding 1.
