Fatah Central Committee member Azzam al-Ahmad said the Islamist groups that Fatah have been fighting with since the end of July in Ain al-Hilweh refugee camp have until the end of the month to hand over the accused killers of Fatah general Mohammad al-Armoushi. The UN World Heritage Committee under the UNESCO voted to list Tell es-Sultan near Jericho as a World Heritage Site in Palestine during a session in Saudi Arabia. Israel criticized the decision. Last week MKs Yuli Edelstein, Limor Son Har-Melech, and Simcha Rothman wrote letters to members of the World Heritage Convention urging them not to list Jericho as a World Heritage Site in Palestine, saying Jericho is mentioned 53 times in the Bible giving Israel primacy in the city. The Palestine Writes Literature Festival organizing committee released a letter it had written to the University of Pennsylvania on 9/2 in response to attacks by Zionist organizations, including the Anti-Defamation League and the Jewish Federation, that had called on the university to cancel the festival which is scheduled for 9/22-9/24. The organizing committee rejected charges of anti-Semitism and the conflation of anti-Semitism and anti-Zionism, calling suggestions that the festival is a threat to Jewish students at the university libelous. 2 Israelis were sentenced to 11 and 4.5 years in prison for an attack on a Palestinian man in Jerusalem in 2021 during the Unity Intifada. Noam Elimelech was sentenced for stabbing the man 10 times in addition to punching and kicking him and for attacking a police officer. Naftali Elmakais was sentenced for punching the man after he was on the ground. The 2 Israelis also had to pay the Palestinian man $26,000 in damages. 2 other Israelis are convicted but have yet to be sentenced. (HA 9/14)

The Israeli Ministry of Justice said it managed to reconstruct a deleted video related to the arrest and assault on a Palestinian man in Shu’fat in August who had what appeared to be a Star of David imprinted on his face. Israeli police had claimed that there was not any video of the incident and that the 16 police officers who arrested the man all had their body cameras off. (HA 9/14)

Times of Israel reported that Saudi Arabia will co-host an event focused on revamping efforts to end the Israeli occupation of Palestine called “Peace Day Effort for Middle East Peace” on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly annual meeting. The Jerusalem District Planning Authority approved the construction of 2 new Israeli settlements, Kidmat Tzion and the Hebron Strip, which is an extension of Givat Hamatos, in East Jerusalem. Kidmat Tzion lies within Ras al-Amud and will have 385 housing units. The plan was pushed by the Ateret Cohanim settlement organization which presented the plans in April. Al-Quds newspaper reported the U.S. has supplied the PA with armored vehicles, bullets, tear gas, sound bombs, riot shields, and k-9s with the approval of Israel. Palestinian and Israeli sources later told Haaretz that the U.S. had only transferred armored vehicles to the PA. The U.S. State Department denied that the U.S. had supplied weapons or ammunition. Israeli national security minister Itamar Ben-Gvir warned Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of consequences if Israel had allowed weapons to be transferred to the PA. Israel’s Interior Ministry said that Palestinian Americans living in Gaza who are not considered a security threat by Israel will be able to enter Israel on a B2 tourist visa and use Israeli airports. First-degree Palestinian American relatives of people living in Gaza will also be allowed to visit Gaza for up to 90 days once a year. More than 20,000 people were feared dead after a storm broke 2 dams near the eastern Libyan city of Derma. At least 23 Palestinians died in the flood. The U.S., Germany, the UK, and the EU condemned remarks by PA president Mahmoud Abbas, who said in a speech at the Fatah Revolutionary Council that Adolf Hitler killed European Jews over ‘social functions’ such as usury, rather than out of anti-Semitism. Paris mayor Anne Hidalgo also stripped Abbas of the Grand Vermeil de Paris medal which he received from her in 2015. The site is located in Area B and has, according to the lawsuit, been raided 74 times between 2019 and 2022, with damage recorded 26 times and workers and clients physically assaulted on 19 occasions. The court rejected the argument that the family’s home should not be demolished due to the child’s age, saying the punitive demolition would deter other children from attacking Israeli forces. The Israeli-run Jerusalem District Court rejected an appeal that would have seen the Israeli settler Yehiel Indore released from custody. Indore is the main suspect in the killing of Palestinian Qosai Jammal Mi’tanin on 8/4 in Burqa. Maps released by the Israeli Civil Administration showed that the official boundaries of the Israeli settlement outposts Asael and Avigail, which had been retroactively authorized by Israel in February, had expanded significantly in recent months. The Asael settlement outpost had expanded 18 times while the Avigail outpost had expanded 2.5 times.
