Car bombs explode in Haifa, Tiberias, killing the 3 suicide bombers, injuring 1 Israeli. No one claims responsibility. PA says that it has arrested 50 alleged Hamas mbrs. over the past few wks. as a "precautionary measure" in advance of a revised Wye agmt. Sources close to Hamas report that the PA has arrested 300 Hamas mbrs., sympathizers since 7/99. By order of the PA High Court, the PA releases senior Hamas cleric Faraj al-Gul, who was arrested in Gaza on 8/8, along with Hamas leader `Abd al-`Aziz Rantisi, on charges of "publishing incorrect information and terrorizing the public." Rantisi is still being detained. (WT 9/8)
