The IDF enters s. Gaza in the afternoon to level lands and clear lines of sight along the border e. of Khan Yunis and do not leave until late at night; after dark, the troops are guarded by IDF helicopters overhead, which fire on nearby open and residential areas to keep Palestinians away (no injuries are reported). A separate IDF unit makes a brief incursion into s. Gaza e. of Rafah to level land and clear lines of sight. In the evening, unidentified Palestinians fire 3 mortars fr. Gaza into Israel, causing no damage or injuries. In the West Bank, the IDF patrols in al-Bireh and 1 village nr. Ramallah in the morning; patrols in 2 villages nr. Jericho and 1 nr.
