Thousands of Palestinians gather along Gaza’s border to continue the Great March of Return. IDF troops violently disperse them near Gaza City, al-Bureij refugee camp, Khan Yunis, and Rafah; 2 Palestinians are killed and at least 55 are injured. This brings the death toll stemming from the Great March of Return to 211. Off Gaza’s coast, Israeli naval forces open fire on Palestinian fishing boats near Bayt Lahiya, injuring 2 fishermen and damaging their boat. In the West Bank, IDF troops arrest several Palestinians during raids in ‘Azun near Qalqilya, sparking minor clashes; no serious injuries are reported. They also arrest 1 Palestinian during raids near Hebron and Jenin; and patrol near Hebron throughout the day. Israeli settlers throw stones at Palestinian homes near Hebron, causing minor damage. In response to U.S. president Donald Trump’s pledge to recognize Israeli sovereignty over the Golan Heights on 3/21, PLO secretary-general Saeb Erakat says the move will “lead to a lack of stability and bloodshed in the region.” (EI, HA 3/22)
