In the West Bank, Israeli forces raided a Palestinian-owned shop in Hebron, injuring a Palestinian and damaging goods. Israel forces also seized a Palestinian garbage truck near Nablus. 10 Palestinians were arrested and 2 were injured by Israeli forces during late-night raids in and around Bethlehem, Hebron, Ramallah, and Qalqilya. Israel announced that it was expanding the Gaza fishing zone from 12 nautical miles to 15. (HA 5/21)
After a petition was filed to have 65 Palestinian-owned boats, which had been seized by Israeli forces, returned to their owners in Gaza, Israel announced that it would return the fishing boats over the next month, failing to lay out a timetable for the return. (HA, QUDS, WAFA 5/21)
After the White House announced that the economic component of the Trump Administration’s peace plan would be unveiled in Bahrain in June, the Bahraini foreign minister Khalid Bin Ahmed al-Khalifa said that Bahrain still supports “an independent [Palestinian] state with East Jerusalem as its capital,” after criticism from the Palestinian leadership.
