In the West Bank, Israeli forces prevented Palestinian farmers from working their agricultural land near Sabastiyya. Israeli forces opened fire at Palestinians at al-Fawar refugee camp, alleging that stones were thrown at them; 1 Palestinian was hospitalized after being hit in the face with a sound bomb. Separately, Israeli forces opened fire on a Palestinian driving a vehicle by Bayt Jala; the Palestinian man then crashed his car into a wall, injuring 1 passenger, and the driver was arrested by the Israeli forces. Another 13 Palestinians were arrested during late-night raids in and around Tulkarm, Ramallah, and Hebron. In East Jerusalem, 3 Palestinians were arrested during a late-night raid in al-Tur. Israeli settler guards attacked Palestinians in Silwan using live ammunition and sound bombs; at least 2 Palestinians were injured, including 1 who was hospitalized. In Israel, a Palestinian citizen of Israel was shot dead in Basmat Tab’un; no arrests were made in relation to the killing. After the air strikes resume, unidentified Gazans fire a projectile into southern Israel, causing no damage or injuries. A senior Israeli official says that despite the reports of an Egypt- and UN-brokered cease-fire late last night, the Israeli assault on Gaza that began on 3/25 is “not over.” The official also says that the IDF struck “very harsh blows” on Hamas. “We’re ready to deal even more.” Separately, Palestinian sources in Gaza say that the Israelis are demanding an end to all resistance activities along the border fence, including the planned Great March of Return protest this Friday, in exchange for a cease-fire. IDF troops shoot and kill a Palestinian suspected of shooting Israeli soldiers and settlers near Salfit on 3/17. According to Palestinian eyewitnesses, the Israeli soldiers surrounded the suspect’s home in Abwein village near Ramallah and called for him to turn himself in before opening fire at the home. The shooting sparks clashes in the village late at night; 9 Palestinians are injured. Elsewhere in the West Bank, Israeli forces deliver a stop-work order to a Palestinian equestrian facility under construction north of Jerusalem. IDF troops arrest 2 Palestinians during a raid of a Palestinian school in Hebron and 5 more during late-night raids near Hebron, Tubas, and Salfit. They also patrol near Ramallah, Hebron, and Salfit. Late at night, Israeli settlers slash the tires of 17 Palestinian vehicles and leave racist graffiti on nearby walls in Battir village near Jerusalem. In East Jerusalem, Israeli forces demolish a Palestinian school building under construction in Shu‘fat refugee camp. They also deliver a stop-work order to a Palestinian building under construction in Qalandia. Along Gaza’s northern border, hundreds of Palestinians gather to continue the Great March of Return and to cheer on a number of Palestinian fishing boats sailing in a symbolic challenge to the Israeli blockade. The Israeli authorities announce a 4-day closure of the West Bank and Gaza, starting tonight and ending at midnight on 3/23. The closure surrounds the Jewish holiday Purim.
