Off the coast of the Gaza Strip, Israeli navy vessels detain 2 Palestinian fishermen at sea and confiscate their boat. In the West Bank, the IDF conducts house searches and arrest raids in 2 villages nr. Hebron and 1 village nr. Qalqilya at night; patrols in 1 village nr. Hebron in the afternoon, and in 2 villages nr. Ramallah and in Tubas at night. Israeli soldiers also attack regular demonstrations by Palestinians, Israelis, and international activists against Israel’s separation wall, settlements, and the occupation in 3 villages nr. Ramallah (Bil‘in, Ni‘lin, Nabi Salih), 1 village nr. Qalqilya (Kafr Qaddum) and 1 village nr. Bethlehem (al-Ma‘sara), causing no serious injuries except 1 in Bil‘in, struck with a tear gas canister. Jewish settlers cut down 20 Palestinian-owned olive trees nr. Hebron, while in a separate incident, settlers vandalize Palestinian homes in the n. West Bank. UN High Commissioner for Refugees Antonio Guterres tells a news conference in Geneva that the number of Syrian refugees in neighboring countries could double to 3.5 million by the end of the year, with an anticipated half of all Syrians requiring humanitarian aid in the same time frame. Following the Austrian govt.’s recall of its UNDOF members on 7/6, Russian pres. Vladimir Putin offers to replace all 380 with Russians.
