In the West Bank, Israeli settlers fenced off a 12-dunam (3 acres) plot of Palestinian-owned land in Bayt Umar. Israeli forces razed 5 dunams (1.2 acres) of Palestinian-owned land west of Bethlehem. 3 Palestinian families were issued stop-work orders for construction on their homes near Qalqilya. Some 50 Israeli settlers with Israeli force escort toured an archeological site in Sabastiyya. 10 Palestinians were arrested during late-night raids in and around Tulkarm, Awarta, Dura, Ramallah, Madama, and Jalazun refugee camp. During a raid in Salfit, Israeli forces confiscated 50,800 NIS ($14,000) from 3 different families. In East Jerusalem, Israeli forces demolished part of a Palestinian-owned home in Jabal Mukabir. 10 Palestinians were arrested during late-night raids in Issawiyya and Silwan. Off the coast of Gaza, Israeli naval forces opened fire on Palestinian fishermen 2 nautical miles west of Bayt Lahiya; no injuries were reported. In the West Bank, Israel issued demolition orders for 4 residential structures south of Hebron and 5 homes in the Ramallah area as punitive demolitions against alleged Palestinian attackers. Israeli forces violently dispersed a protest against the U.S. administration’s peace plan in Qalqilya, leading to tear-gas related injuries. 7 Palestinians were arrested during raids in and around Halhul, Ramallah, Salfit, and Anata. Israeli settlers severely beat 1 Palestinian doctor visiting patients near Bethlehem. In East Jerusalem, 3 Palestinians were arrested during late-night raids in and around Silwan and Issawiyya. Off the coast of Gaza, Israeli naval forces opened fire on Palestinian fishermen west of Bayt Lahiya; no injuries were reported. Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced that Israel will expand 2 settlements, Har Homa and Givat Hamatos, in East Jerusalem with 2,200 and 3,000 housing units respectively. Prime Minister Netanyahu also said that Israel would apply sovereignty to al-Ibrahimi Mosque. The PA called Netanyahu’s announcement part of “a systematic destruction of the two-state solution.” (HA, NYT, WAFA 2/20; JP 2/23)

Israel and the PA ended its trade dispute, allowing Palestinian goods to exit the West Bank and Israeli agricultural products to enter the West Bank market. Israel started banning Palestinian goods to the Israeli market on 2/2 and later expanded the ban of export from the West Bank altogether. (HA, WAFA, WAFA 2/20)

In the West Bank, Israeli forces set up a metal gate, shutting the main entrance to Nabi Salih. Israeli forces also handed a demolition notice for the family home of a Palestinian prisoner in Kubar and handed a stop-work order for 4 structures in the Jordan Valley. Elsewhere, Israeli forces entered al-Ibrahimi Mosque and forced worshippers and staff to leave the mosque. Israeli forces also violently suppressed a protest in al-Bireh; 2 Palestinians were injured by live ammunition, 3 by rubber-coated bullets, and others suffered tear-gas related injuries. 7 Palestinians were arrested during late-night raids in and around Hebron, Bethlehem, Ramallah, and Nablus. In East Jerusalem, 1 Palestinian was arrested during a late-night raid in Issawiyya. Off the coast of Gaza, Israeli naval forces opened fire and used water hoses on Palestinian fishermen 3 nautical miles off the coast of Gaza City, causing damage to boats. In Gaza, Israeli forces opened fire on Palestinian farmland east of Rafah; no injuries were reported. In Israel, more than 150 vehicles were vandalized and racist graffiti in Hebrew, such as “Jews wake up” and “Enough with the assimilation,” was sprayed on several buildings in the Christian Palestinian village of Jish. At a UN Security Council meeting, PA president Mahmoud Abbas sharply rejected the U.S. administration’s peace plan, saying “[t]his is an Israeli-American pre-emptive plan in order to put an end to the question of Palestine.” While President Abbas was speaking in New York, Palestinian protesters in Ramallah demonstrated against the U.S. peace plan. After the protest, Palestinians and Israeli forces clashed at a checkpoint north of Ramallah; 2 Palestinians were injured by rubber-coated bullets and others needing treatment for tear-gas related injuries. In the West Bank, Israeli forces handed demolition notices to a Palestinian family in Jenin and for several houses and animal barns in Fasayil in the Jordan Valley. Israeli forces also demolished a water irrigation pipeline in Bardala. 12 Palestinians were arrested during late-night raids in and around Hebron, Bethlehem, Ramallah, Tulkarm, and Jericho. During the raid near Jericho, 2 Palestinians were injured and hospitalized after confrontations with Israeli forces. Israeli settlers threw stones at 1 Palestinian-owned vehicle near Nablus, causing damage. In East Jerusalem, Israeli forces demolished a Palestinian-owned house in Bayt Hanina and a house under construction in Jabal Mukabir. Off the coast of Gaza, Israeli naval forces opened fire on Palestinian fishermen west of Khan Yunis; 1 Palestinian was injured and damage to equipment was reported. In Gaza, Israeli forces opened fire on Palestinian bird hunters east of Jabalia; no injuries were reported. Israeli forces also made incursions to level land near Khan Yunis. Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu backtracked on his announcement that Israel would immediately start annexing the Jordan Valley following his meeting with U.S. president Donald Trump on 1/28. Prime Minister Netanyahu now said that Israel would start annexing the Jordan Valley after the Israeli elections on 3/2. Netanyahu’s decision to wait was reportedly made after pressure from U.S. senior advisor to the president Jared Kushner. (HA 2/4)

In the West Bank, 1 Palestinian prisoner stabbed and lightly wounded an Israeli warden at Ofer Prison. Israeli settlers attacked a Palestinian family in Hebron, causing light injuries. 2 Palestinians were hospitalized after being hit by rubber-coated bullets during a confrontation with Israeli forces in Hebron. Israeli forces also violently dispersed Palestinians protesting against the U.S. administration’s peace plan in and around Qalqilya and Tulkarm, leading to tear-gas related injuries. 18 Palestinians were arrested during late-night raids in and around Ramallah, Qalandia, Bethlehem, Hebron, Nablus, Qalqilya, and Jenin. In East Jerusalem, 1 Palestinian was arrested. Off the coast of Gaza, Israeli naval forces arrested 3 Palestinian fishermen off the shore of Dayr al-Balah within the allowed fishing area; their fishing boat was also confiscated. Separately, Israeli naval forces opened fire and sprayed skunk water on fishermen west of Rafah. The PA minister of agriculture announced that the PA had decided to ban entry of Israeli products to the Palestinian market. The decision comes a day after Israel started banning imports of agricultural products from the West Bank. (WAFA 2/3)

The Organization of Islamic Cooperation issued a statement after an extraordinary summit in Jeddah calling “on all member states not to engage with this plan [the U.S. administration’s peace plan] or to cooperate with the U.S. administration in implementing it in any form.” (HA, WAFA 2/3)

In the West Bank, Israeli forces handed 8 Palestinian families demolition notices for 18 structures in the Hebron Hills area. 13 Palestinians were arrested during late-night raids in and around Hebron, Ramallah, Bethlehem, and Qalqilya. In East Jerusalem, 2 Palestinians were arrested during raids in al-Ram and Issawiyya. In Gaza, 1 Palestinian injured during the Great March of Return protest on 3/30/2018 died of his wounds. In the West Bank, Israeli forces issued a stop-work order for a road near al-Mughayyir and seized nearby machinery. Israeli forces also distributed 8 demolition notices for Palestinian-owned homes south of Hebron. 15 Palestinians were arrested during late-night raids in and around Bethlehem, Bayt Umar, Abu Dis, Ramallah, Nablus, and Tulkarm. Israeli settlers threw stones at Palestinian homes in Madama, causing damage. In East Jerusalem, 2 Palestinians were arrested during late-night raids in the Old City and Issawiyya. Israeli Channel 13 released a video showing half a dozen Israeli policemen attacking a Palestinian near Shu‘fat refugee camp for failing to show his ID. Off the coast of Gaza, Israeli naval forces opened fire on Palestinian fishermen west of Jabalia; no injuries were reported. In Israel, 5 international activists, including a member of the Finish parliament, were arrested by Israeli forces after trying to cut through the fence to Gaza in an act of solidarity with Palestinians in Gaza. Israel relocated 33 Palestinian minors held at Ofer Prison in the West Bank to Damoun Prison in Israel. Israel also extended the administrative detention of a women scheduled to be released on 1/15 for another 6 months. The woman has been in administrative detention since 6/15/2019. In the West Bank, Israeli forces arrested 5 Palestinians during late-night raids in and around Jenin. Israeli forces also delivered punitive demolition notices to 3 families of alleged attackers in the Ramallah area. Elsewhere, Israeli forces violently dispersed the weekly anti-settlement protest in Kafr Qaddum, causing tear-gas related injuries, and clashed with Palestinians in al-‘Arub refugee camp, leading to tear-gas related injuries. In the West Bank, Israeli settlers uprooted 300 olive trees in al-Khadir. Settlers also wrote racist graffiti on walls of buildings and slashed the tires of 25 vehicles in al-Jib. Israeli forces clashed with Palestinians in al-‘Arub, causing tear-gas related injuries. 12 Palestinians were arrested during late-night raids in and around Ramallah, Qalqilya, Jenin, and Hebron. In East Jerusalem, 1 Palestinian was arrested during a late-night raid in Issawiyya. In Gaza, Israel struck targets in Gaza after a rocket was fired from Gaza toward Israel. No injuries were reported, but damage was reported. Israeli forces fired tear gas at Palestinian agricultural lands east of Khan Yunis, forcing farmers to leave. Israeli naval forces fired a water cannon at a Palestinian fisherman, causing damage to his boat. Israel also reduced the fishing zone to 6 nautical miles. 3 Palestinians were arrested after trying to enter Israel by the Gaza fence; all 3 were released on 12/20. The Israeli high court of justice criticized Israeli police handling Palestinian complaints of destruction of their property. The court said the police’s handling of such complaints “is troubling, to say the least” and that in 1 case, “except for taking the Palestinian plaintiff’s statement, the police did virtually nothing.” (HA 12/20)

In the West Bank, 4 Palestinians were arrested during late-night raids in and around Bethlehem, Ramallah, and Qalqilya; during the raids in Ramallah and Bethlehem, 3 Palestinians were injured. A 21-year-old Palestinian shepherd who lost 4 fingers due to an undetonated grenade in a West Bank military firing zone in 2012 was awarded, by the Jerusalem Magistrate’s Court, $87,000 for his injuries as the court ruled that the Israeli defense ministry had neglected to clear the area. In the West Bank, the Israel Electric Corporation cut power for 10s of thousands of Palestinians in Ramallah for 3 hours between 2pm and 5pm. Israeli settlers threw stones at Palestinian-owned vehicles driving on a road between Nablus and Qalqilya, causing damage. Israeli settlers also vandalized a number of Palestinian-owned bulldozers in the Jordan Valley by filling their fuel tanks with sand. 5 Palestinians were arrested during late-night raids in and around Hebron, Jenin, and Qalandia. In East Jerusalem, 3 Palestinians were arrested during late-night raids, including a Fatah official. In Gaza, Israeli forces opened fire on agricultural lands, damaging a municipality truck. In a separate incident, Israeli forces fired tear gas near Khuza‘a; no injuries were reported. In the West Bank, Israeli forces violently dispersed Palestinian protesters in several cities; Palestinians were protesting the U.S. administration’s announcement that it no longer considers Israeli settlements in contradiction to international law on 11/18. 82 Palestinians received treatment for tear gas and smoke inhalation and rubber-coated bullet wounds in al-Bireh, Bethlehem, Huwwara, Abu Dis, Ramallah, Hebron, and Tulkarm. Separately, Israeli forces violently dispersed protesters in Silat al-Dahir and Tulkarm, who were demonstrating because of the death of a Palestinian prisoner in an Israeli jail who died of cancer. Israeli forces also demolished a Palestinian-owned house in Qalandia and delivered a demolition notice for a house in Bayt Awa. Israeli settlers vandalized cars and buildings in al-Jaba‘, slashing tires and writing racist graffiti. Israeli settlers also set Palestinian-owned farmland on fire in Madama and in Sabastiyya. 9 Palestinians were arrested during raids in and around Jenin, Qalqilya, Biddu, Bethlehem, and Hebron. Israeli forces violently dispersed the weekly anti-settlement protest in Kafr Qaddum, causing tear-gas related injuries. 8 Palestinians were arrested during late-night raids in and around Halhul, Bayt Furik, Jalazun refugee camp, and Ramallah. In Gaza, 104 Palestinians were injured during the 82d weekly Great March of Return protest, including 41 by live ammunition. In the West Bank, Israeli settlers stole olive harvest in Qaryut and flooded 5 dunams (1.2 acres) of Palestinian farmland planted with olive trees with sewage waste in al-Jaba‘. Israeli settlers also threw stones at Israeli forces at Yitzhar settlement. Israeli forces delivered notices that 2,522 dunams (623 acres) of land would be seized, including 2,000 in al-Jaba‘, 372 south of Hebron, and 150 near Bayt Liqya. 10 Palestinians were arrested during late-night raids in and around al-Ram, Yatta, Nablus, Jenin, and Ramallah. In East Jerusalem, Israeli forces summoned 2 members of the parents’ committee that organized a school strike in Issawiyya on 11/2 in protest over Israeli forces breaking into the school and arresting 1 student; 1 of the 2 members was arrested and clashes between Israeli forces and local Palestinians broke out, resulting in the arrest of 3 Palestinian minors. The Israeli housing cabinet approved the controversial cable car project which would connect Western Jerusalem with East Jerusalem’s Old City. The project is currently under review by Israel’s attorney general and it would need a final procedural approval by the Israeli government. The project, if approved, would likely be challenged in the Israeli high court of justice. (HA 11/4; CNN 11/5 BBC 11/6)

After Jordan recalled its ambassador to Israel on 10/29 in protest of Israel holding 2 Jordanian citizens in administrative detention, Israel’s prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that the 2 would be released to Jordan. (HA 11/4)

In the West Bank, Israeli forces forced Palestinians harvesting olives to leave their fields in Qaryut. Israeli settlers threw stones at Palestinian cars traveling near Luban al-Sharqiyya, causing damage to several vehicles. 6 Palestinians were arrested during raids in and around Bethlehem and Ramallah. In East Jerusalem, 1 Palestinian family in Jabal Mukabir demolished their own home to avoid exorbitant Israeli-imposed fees. Israeli forces raided Issawiyya, leading to clashes with local Palestinians. 1 Palestinian was injured by a Molotov cocktail thrown at the Israeli forces; 8 Palestinians were arrested. Israeli forces violently dispersed the weekly anti-settlement protest in Kafr Qaddum; 1 was injured by live ammunition, others suffered tear-gas related injuries. 1 Palestinian was shot by Israeli forces at a checkpoint near Barta‘a. Israeli forces raided the headquarters of the Health Work Committees in Ramallah, damaging furniture. Israeli forces also raided the family house of an alleged Palestinian attacker and took measurements for a punitive demolition of the house. 9 Palestinians were arrested, including 5 during late-night raids in and around Ramallah, Hebron, and Nablus; 2 at a checkpoint in Bayt Furik; and 2 during house raids in Qalqilya. In East Jerusalem, 1 Palestinian was detained at the Haram al-Sharif compound; he was banned from entering the compound for 15 days. Israeli forces prevented Palestinian farmers from harvesting their olive trees in Kafr Qaddum, declaring the area a closed military zone. Israeli forces shot a Palestinian at a checkpoint near Tulkarm. 13 Palestinians were arrested during late-night raids in and around Hebron, Nablus, Ramallah, and Jenin. After a meeting between the Israeli finance minister Moshe Kahlon and PA officials, the PA announced that it would start receiving tax revenue collected by Israel again. In the West Bank, Israeli forces seized agricultural tools near Bethlehem. Protesters in Ramallah sealed off the offices of the International Committee of the Red Cross in Ramallah, demanding action on behalf of a Palestinian prisoner said to be in critical condition after torture during his interrogation on 9/25. 2 Palestinians were arrested at a flying checkpoint between Bethlehem and Hebron. In East Jerusalem, Israeli forces demolished 4 Palestinian-owned sheep barns in Jabal Mukabir. In the West Bank, several Palestinians suffered tear-gas related injuries during clashes with Israeli forces at a checkpoint in al-Bireh near Ramallah. 2 Palestinians were arrested at a flying checkpoint south of Bethlehem. In East Jerusalem, Israeli forces violently dispersed a protest in front of the Hadassah Hospital in solidarity with a Palestinian prisoner who had been tortured by Israeli interrogators. 2 protesters were arrested and there were reports of beatings. Off the coast of Gaza, Israeli naval forces opened fire on Palestinian fishermen 3 nautical miles off the shore of Bayt Lahiya. In Israel, 1 Palestinian citizen of Israel was killed and 2 others injured in Maj al-Krum. Elsewhere, in Kafr Kana, around 2,000 Palestinians marched to mark the anniversary of 13 Palestinians killed by Israeli forces in 2000. Israeli forces clashed with Palestinians during a raid near Ramallah; tear-gas related injuries were reported and 1 glass door was damaged by a tear gas canister. Al-Ibrahimi Mosque was closed by Israeli authorities for Palestinians from midday. 18 Palestinians were arrested, including 17 during late-night raids in and around Tulkarm, Nablus, Jenin, and Bethlehem, and 1 Palestinian was arrested at a checkpoint near Salfit. Palestinian women in the West Bank, East Jerusalem, Gaza, and Israel marched to protest violence against women. The protesters adopted the slogan “Free homeland, free women.” The protests were sparked by a number of murders of Palestinian women by members of their families. The most recent was in late August, where a 21-year-old was killed allegedly by members of her family. (HA 9/27)

Around 100 Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails ended a 15-day-long hunger strike after the Israel Prison Service agreed to limit the jamming devices installed in the prisons and to install public phones. (WAFA 9/26)

PA president Mahmoud Abbas announced at the UN general assembly that he will set a date for general elections in the West Bank, East Jerusalem, and Gaza. President Abbas asked the UN to help aid and monitor the process. (HA 9/26)

In the West Bank, Israeli force seized a vehicle near Tubas and demolished a house under construction near Nablus. Elsewhere, Israeli forces raided the office of the Union of Palestinian Women’s Committees in Hebron and seized computer hard drives. 16 Palestinians were arrested during late-night raids in and around Hebron, Bethlehem, Ramallah, Nablus, and Jenin. In East Jerusalem, Israeli forces demolished a Palestinian-owned barn in Silwan and a house under construction in al-Tur; during the latter demolition, 2 Palestinians were arrested and video shows family members who owned the property were assaulted by Israeli police. In Gaza, Israeli forces fired tear gas at Palestinian farmers east of Rafah. Separately, Israeli forces made incursions to level land east of Dayr al-Balah. Israeli forces delivered a stop-work order on a road near Nablus and confiscated a bulldozer. 2 Palestinians were arrested, including 1 during a late-night raid near Ramallah and 1 in Hebron. In East Jerusalem, 1 Palestinian was injured after being shot by Israeli forces during clashes in Issawiyya. In Gaza, after 2 Palestinians were killed during the Great March of Return protest on 9/6, Israeli forces reported that a drone had dropped explosives in Israel, causing no injuries but damaging a military vehicle. Israeli forces then fired at targets in Gaza, causing damage, but no injuries were reported. 3 Palestinians were arrested after they reportedly crossed into Israel. In the West Bank, 1 Palestinian farmer was injured after being attacked on his land by Israeli settlers from the Gush Etzion settlement south of Hebron. 2 Palestinians were arrested in Kober village north of Ramallah during a late-night raid. During the raid, clashes erupted between Israeli forces and local residents, leading to tear gas-related injuries. In East Jerusalem, Israeli forces raided a community club in the Old City 2 times to prevent it from hosting a soccer tournament for Palestinian families. Israeli forces also seized fruit and vegetable stands near a checkpoint south of Dhariyya. 1 Palestinian girl was injured when an Israeli settler car hit her by Jab’a southwest of Bethlehem. In East Jerusalem, 8 Palestinians were arrested, 4 at the Haram al-Sharif compound and 4 during late-night raids in Issawiyya. Israel and the PA agreed that the PA can collect fuel taxes directly rather than receiving the taxes from Israel. The agreement is likely a work-around to alleviate the PA economy, while the PA still refuses to accept the Israeli-collected taxes since Israel is withholding part of the taxes that Israel perceives will be paid to Palestinian prisoners and their families. The PA also announced that it would start paying back money it owes to its civil servants who have only received 60% of their salaries since February. The PA pledged to pay its civil servants 110% of their salaries for August. (AJ, HA 8/22)

U.S. president Donald Trump attacked Representative Rashida Tlaib (D-MI) on Twitter, saying “She hates Israel and all Jewish people. She is an anti-Semite.” President Trump also said during a press gaggle that “I [President Trump] think any Jewish people that vote for a Democrat—I think it shows either a total lack of knowledge or great disloyalty.” President Trump’s comments drew widespread condemnation from Jewish groups in the U.S. (HA 8/20; HA 8/21)
