The IDF conducts air strikes to destroy 2 vacant AMB buildings in n. Gaza; fires 3 shells at the eastern border of Gaza nr. alMaghazi r.c., causing no injuries; demolishes a Palestinian home in Bayt Hanina outside East Jerusalem for being constructed without permits; conducts arrest raids, house searches nr. Bethlehem, Jenin, Nablus; completes a section of the separation wall btwn. Qalandia checkpoint s. of Ramallah and the al-Ram and Dahiyat al-Barid area nr. Jerusalem. Nr. Tulkarm, 2 Palestinian teenagers throw Molotov cocktails at an IDF patrol, causing no injuries; 1 is shot, wounded by the IDF. Some 20 AMB gunmen occupy the n. Gaza governor’s office, Education Min. offices, and a shari‘a court for several hrs., demanding jobs in the PA security forces; some 400 Palestinians, including AMB mbrs., hold a similar protest outside the Fatah headquarters in Bethlehem. The Jewish “hilltop youth” settlers set up 13 new unauthorized outposts nr. existing settlements in the Bethlehem, Hebron, Jericho, Nablus, Qalqilya, and Ramallah areas. The IDF demolishes a 3-story building, a 2-story building in Jerusalem; temporarily occupies a flour mill in al-Qarara as an observation tower to protect Jewish settlers traveling btwn. Gush Katif and Israel (it had occupied the same mill on 6/2); conducts arrest raids, house searches in Mughraqa and nr. Hebron, Khan Yunis, Ramallah. IDF undercover units arrest 3 wanted Islamic Jihad mbrs. in an operation nr. Ramallah. Jewish settlers fr. Keddumim set fire to 100 Palestinian olive trees. Some 40 armed Palestinians open fire in Jenin’s city center, stage a sit-in in front of PA PM Ahmad Qurai‘’s Jericho home to protest the PA’s failure to honor commitments to integrate them into the PA. The IDF tightens restrictions on Palestinian movement into Jericho (turned over to PA security control on 3/16); announces plans to install an electronic gate at the entrance to Wadi al-Silqa nr. Dayr al-Balah, near a settler bypass road, to control Palestinian movement in and out; arrests 3 Palestinians attempting to sneak into Israel nr. al-Mintar crossing to find jobs; conducts arrest raids, house searches in Budrus nr. Ramallah, Dayr al-Ghusun, al-Til. Jewish settlers fr. Ma’on attack, beat several Palestinian farmers working their land nearby. Several Palestinian gunmen raid the PA’s Rafah police office, fire shots in the air, free a jailed Palestinian, who was arrested on 3/18 for throwing stones at PA security officers sealing a smugglers’ tunnel in Rafah.
