Along Gaza’s border fence, a number of Palestinians cross into Israel near Rafah and set fire to an abandoned IDF post, causing damage. They return to Gaza before the IDF can mobilize. Late at night, IDF troops open fire on Palestinian farmland near Dayr al-Balah, causing no serious damage. Meanwhile, Israeli firefighters put out at least 12 fires in southern Israel apparently sparked by incendiary kites flown from Gaza. Off Gaza’s coast, Israeli naval forces open fire on Palestinian fishing boats near Bayt Lahiya, causing no damage or injuries. In the West Bank, IDF troops confiscate 2 vehicles during a raid near Tubas. They assault and arrest 1 Palestinian during a raid in Dahaysha refugee camp near Bethlehem; arrest 5 more Palestinians during raids in Hebron and Qalqilya; and patrol near Hebron and Nablus. Israeli forces visit the Bedouin community Khan al-Ahmar near Jerusalem to take measurements and prepare for the planned evacuation and demolition of the village. The IDF says that PIJ fighters planted an improvised explosive device along the border fence earlier in the day. Elsewhere in the West Bank, Israeli forces block Palestinian farmers from working their lands near Tulkarm, without offering any justification. They also arrest 8 Palestinians during late-night raids in and around Tulkarm, Qalqilya, and Nablus; and patrol near Salfit and Hebron. In East Jerusalem, Israeli forces evict 3 Palestinian families from their homes in Silwan, implementing a recent court ruling that an Israeli settler group owns the buildings. Along Gaza’s border, IDF troops shoot and injure 2 Palestinians amid clashes near Khan Yunis and open fire on agricultural lands near Dayr al-Balah, causing no damage or injuries. At a meeting of the Fatah Central Committee, PA president Abbas lays out conditions for Palestinian engagement with the U.S. peace initiative. “We will not listen to anything that comes [from the Trump administration], regardless of what it is, unless the 2-state solution [is endorsed] and East Jerusalem as the capital of the State of Palestine is recognized,” he says. Israeli DM Lieberman condemns the calls for an independent, transparent investigation into the killings along Gaza’s border over the past 2 weeks. “The demand to investigate the shooting [. . .] is hypocrisy,” he says.
