Along Gaza’s border, IDF troops violently disperse hundreds of Palestinian minors gathering near Dayr al-Balah to continue the Great March of Return for a 7th day in a row; 1 Palestinian is seriously injured. Meanwhile, an Israeli aircraft bombs a group of Palestinians who allegedly launched an incendiary balloon into Israel near Gaza City, injuring 1. On the other side of the border fence, Israeli firefighters put out 9 fires in open areas that were reportedly sparked by incendiary balloons. In the West Bank, Israeli forces demolish a Palestinian home under construction in Rantis village near Ramallah; and deliver a stop-work order to a Palestinian home under construction in al-Walaja near Bethlehem. IDF troops injure 1 Palestinian during clashes sparked by a raid in Dahaysha refugee camp near Bethlehem; arrest 2 Palestinians during further raids near Salfit and Tulkarm; and patrol near Bethlehem, Qalqilya, and Salfit. In East Jerusalem, a Palestinian demolishes his own home in Bayt Hanina in order to avoid paying Israeli demolition fees. In the West Bank, IDF troops detain and interrogate 2 Palestinians during a raid in Rantis village nr. Bethlehem. Hours later, PASF troops arrive to arrest 1 of the men. Meanwhile, IDF troops arrest a Palestinian at a checkpoint in c. Hebron after she is found to be carrying a knife. They arrest 6 more Palestinians during latenight raids in and around Hebron, Ramallah, and Tulkarm; and patrol nr. Hebron during the day. Israeli forces level Palestinian lands outside Bayt Dajan in the n. Jordan Valley. Along Gaza’s border, Israeli forces conduct a limited incursion to level land nr. Khan Yunis. Hamas-affiliated media report that the high-level delegation to Egypt led by Hamas’s new 2d-in-command Sinwar has returned to Gaza without reaching any major agreement on the Rafah border crossing or other issues. “All the shared issues have been studied in a serious and deep way with our Egyptian brothers,” a Hamas source says. However, there is speculation in the Arab press that Hamas and the Egyptian govt. did, in fact, reach an agreement to ease points of tensions. (TOI 6/12; MNA, TOI 6/13)

An Israeli sniper shoots and kills a Palestinian youth during major clashes sparked by an IDF raid overnight in Bayt Rima village nr. Ramallah. The IDF temporarily shuts down entrances to the village after the clashes. Elsewhere in the West Bank, IDF troops conduct raids in Dahaysha r.c. nr. Bethlehem, sparking minor clashes with stone-throwing residents; 2 Palestinians are injured. They also arrest 5 Palestinians during late-night raids nr. Nablus, Hebron, Tulkarm, and Bethlehem, and patrol nr. Hebron throughout the day. Israeli forces begin building a road leading to a settlement outpost nr. Nablus. Late at night, armed Palestinians allegedly shoot and injure an Israeli settler driver nr. Rantis village nr. Ramallah. Israeli forces then close the entrances to Rantis and 3 other villages in the area (Rantis and Shuqba village will be reopened on 1/13). In East Jerusalem, Israeli forces conduct raids nr. the Old City and in Shu‘fat r.c., arresting 4 Palestinian youths and shutting down several shops. Off Gaza’s coast, Israeli naval forces open fire on Palestinian fishing boats nr. Jabaliya r.c. and later nr. Khan Yunis, causing no damage or injuries. Residents of the illegal Amona settlement outpost, which had been ordered evacuated and demolished by 12/25, vote to accept a new version of a compromise relocation plan proposed by Israeli PM Netanyahu and Edu. Min. Bennett on 12/12, days after they had rejected a previous version. The proposal will allow 24 of the 40-odd families to relocate to nearby plots of land on the same hilltop. In the West Bank, the IDF makes a rare daylight incursion into Rantis village nr. Ramallah, patrolling streets, firing on residential areas, seriously wounding a Palestinian woman; fires on a 62-yr.-old Palestinian man at the Tarqumiyya crossing s. of Hebron when he reportedly ignores orders to stop, wounding him twice in the feet; demolishes a monument in al-Mukabir in East Jerusalem dedicated to Iyad Awaysat, killed by the IDF in East Jerusalem on 4/7; conducts late-night arrest raids, house searches in Khirbat Safa and Bethlehem, nr. Hebron and Nablus. A Jewish settler shoots, seriously wounds a 15-yr.-old Palestinian boy cultivating almonds on his family’s land s. of Nablus. At least 15 Jewish settlers fr. Israel seals West Bank and Gaza border crossings for the week-long Passover holidays. The IDF patrols Silat al-Harithiyya nr. Jenin; sends undercover units into Kafr alLubbad nr. Tulkarm to arrest a wanted Palestinian; conducts arrest raids, house searches in al-‘Aza r.c. nr. Bethlehem, Bayt Fajjar, Qabatya, Rantis nr. Ramallah; issues eviction orders to 70 Palestinian families in Dahiyat al-Salam in East Jerusalem, claiming the land on which they live is owned by a Jewish woman who recently inherited the property and wants them to leave (no documents are provided). The IDF fatally shoots 2 Hamas mbrs. who attempt to attack an IDF outpost in Gaza; fires missiles at a culture and art center affiliated with Islamic Jihad in Khan Yunis, damaging the building but causing no injuries; demolishes 3 Palestinian homes, 25 bedouin shacks and livestock pens in Anata nr. Jerusalem; bulldozes 1 d. of land in Khan Yunis; conducts arrest raids, house searches nr. Bethlehem and in Marda nr. Nablus, Qarawat Bani Zayid and Rantis nr. Ramallah, Yabad nr. Jenin.
