The IDF surrounds, searches the home of a wanted Palestinian in Allar nr. Tulkarm and, not finding him, threatens to demolish the house if he does not surrender, arrests his sister apparently for leverage; conducts arrest raids, house searches nr. Hebron and in Jenin (firing on residential areas), al-Khadir; patrols in, fires on residential areas of Tubas. Palestinians in n. Gaza fire an antitank missile at an IDF post just inside Israel, causing no damage or injuries. Jewish settlers fr. The Israeli Interior Min. issues demolition orders for 25 buildings in an unrecognized bedouin village in the Negev. Bedouin scuffle with Israeli policemen attempting to serve the demolition orders, leaving 12 bedouin and 12 police officers injured. (YA 11/15)

The IDF imposes a curfew on, patrols in, fires on residential areas of Dayr Istiyya nr. Salfit; patrols in Tamun and Tubas nr. Jenin; occupies 5 Palestinian homes in Allar nr. Tulkarm as observation posts; fires on residential areas of Rafah, wounding a Palestinian infant inside her home. Israel police send a large contingent (20 vehicles) into the unrecognized village of Bir al-Mashash in the Negev, with home demolition orders covering all structures in the village of 4,000 Israeli Palestinians. Angry residents scuffle with police, leaving at least 2 Israeli Palestinians hospitalized. (IMEMC 7/1)

The IDF allows 16 West Bank Palestinians deported to Gaza to return to their homes; increases the number of Palestinian workers permitted into Israel by one-third to 1,500; shoots, critically wounds a 13-yr.-old Palestinian boy nr. The IDF reportedly has begun removing 100s of bedouin families fr. shanty towns around its Negev air base with the aim of creating a 5,000-meter buffer zone out of concern that bedouin could acquire anti-aircraft missiles to shoot down Israeli air force planes. 10,000s of bedouin live in 10s of unrecognized villages in the area of the air base, some shanties slated for removal have stood for 22 yrs.
