In the West Bank, the body of an Israeli soldier murdered in Qalqilya is discovered. The Palestinian responsible reportedly tells Israeli interrogators that he was acting in response to the incarceration by Israel of his brother since 2003. The IDF conducts house searches and arrest raids in 1 village nr. Jenin in the afternoon, and in Nablus and 1 nearby village, 1 village nr. Bethlehem and 1 village nr. Hebron at night; patrols in 1 village nr. Ramallah in the morning, 2 villages nr. Qalqilya in the afternoon, and in 3 villages nr. Ramallah at night. (HA 9/21; PCHR 9/26)

The OPCW says that it has now received information over Syria’s chemical weapons stockpile sufficient to meet the 1st deadline of the international community plan. (AP 9/21)

Egyptian security forces raid several locations in the n. Sinai, arresting more than a dozen suspected militants. According to an AFP tally, in the past 2 mos., the army has killed some 100 Islamist militants, while 58 policemen, 21 soldiers, and 17 civilians have also died at the hands of the jihadist groups.
