Calling him a "great Jewish hero," Orthodox Jews in New York set up hot line to raise funds for Amir's legal defense. Hot line director Moshe Gross says his 20 volunteers are receiving 60-70 calls an hour. Asked if his group is connected with Kahane Chai, Gross says: "We [believe] he wasn't religious enough."
