The Israeli cabinet approved a 5-year plan that will see $850 million invested in developing East Jerusalem, including in infrastructure, education, employment, and welfare. The cabinet also approved 2,000 new housing units for Palestinian residents. Israel Hayom reported that the Israeli police officer charged with the killing of autistic Palestinian man Eyad al-Hallaq in East Jerusalem in May 2020 had signed up for 6 months of service in the police force after finishing his compulsory service.
