In the West Bank, 1 Palestinian man succumbed to injuries sustained from Israeli forces in Tell on 11/1. Israeli settlers shot and injured 1 Palestinian in Shu’fat refugee camp. Israeli settlers also destroyed a water pipeline to Beit Lid, cutting off the town’s access to water. Israeli forces shot and killed 9 Palestinians during raids in Jenin refugee camp, Budrus, Qalandia refugee camp, Hebron, and Fawwar refugee camp, including 1 child and 2 others in a drone strike on Jenin refugee camp. Israeli forces also shot and injured 19 people during raids in Jenin refugee camp, Fawwar refugee camp, and Qalandia refugee camp. In East Jerusalem, Israeli forces used tear gas and water cannons to prevent Palestinians from entering the Haram al-Sharif compound. In Gaza, at least 196 Palestinians were killed and 605 injured in Israeli airstrikes. Israeli forces attacked an ambulance outside of al-Shifa Hospital, killing at least 15 and injuring 60 others. Israel also attacked the Indonesian and al-Quds hospitals and the office of Agence France-Presse in Gaza City, causing significant damage. Israel said it assassinated Hamas member Mustafa Dalul in an airstrike. 4 Israeli soldiers were killed in Gaza. U.S. MQ-9 Reaper drones circled Gaza, reportedly gathering intelligence on the whereabouts of the captives held by Hamas. The New York Times said the U.S. drones have been flying over Gaza since 10/28. Rockets were fired at Israel, causing damage. In Lebanon, Israel killed 1 person it said was a member of Hezbollah and attacked several areas in South Lebanon. 2 Israeli soldiers were injured in a drone attack in the Golan Heights. The Ministry of Health in Gaza said at least 9,257 Palestinians have been killed, including 3,826 children and 2,405 women, and 23,516 have been injured in Israeli airstrikes on Gaza since 10/7. At least 1,800 people, including 940 children, have been reported missing. 144 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli forces and settlers in the West Bank and East Jerusalem since 10/7, including 40 children. More than 2,300 people have been injured. Around 1,400 Israelis, including foreign nationals, have been killed and 5,431 injured since 10/7. Over 1.5 million Palestinians, more than half the population of Gaza, have been displaced since 10/7. There has been a complete electricity blackout in Gaza since 10/12 due to the Israel blockade. As of 10/23, at least 27,781 housing units have been destroyed and 150,000 have been damaged in Israeli airstrikes since 10/7. The number is likely much higher given the lack of recent data. 17 wounded Palestinians were transferred to Egyptian hospitals via the Rafah crossing. Between 300 and 400 foreign passport holders left via the Rafah crossing. The evacuation efforts were halted after the Israeli attack on the ambulance outside of al-Shifa Hospital. 47 truckloads of aid entered Gaza. Israel reconnected 2 water pipelines to Gaza. 3,026 Palestinians from Gaza employed in Israel prior to 10/7 were expelled to Gaza via the Karem Abu Salem (Kerem Shalom) crossing. Palestinian laborers from Gaza have been held in internment camps in Israel and some were deported to the West Bank. (AJ, AJ, AJ, AP, AP, HA, HA, REU 11/3)

Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu continued to invoke biblical history, referring to Palestinians as Amalek and the “sons of darkness,” in a letter to Israeli soldiers. (HA 11/3)

U.S. secretary of state Antony Blinken arrived in Israel, saying he would push the Israeli government to agree to humanitarian pauses to allow aid into Gaza and to facilitate a release of the captives. After the meeting, Netanyahu issued a statement saying Israel will continue to attack Gaza with “all of its power” and not agree to a temporary ceasefire that does not include a return of all of the captives. Japan said it would donate $65 million in humanitarian aid to Palestine after a meeting with PA foreign minister Riyad al-Maliki. (REU, WAFA 11/3)

In the West Bank, Israeli forces continued their attacks on Jenin refugee camp, killing 4 Palestinians, bringing the death toll to 12, including 5 children. 143 Palestinians were injured during the 48-hour assault on the camp. 1 Israeli soldier was killed by friendly fire. Israeli forces also raided 3 hospitals in Jenin, including the Khalil Suleiman Government Hospital, injuring 3 with live ammunition and causing tear-gas related injuries. The deputy governor of Jenin said that 80% of homes in Jenin were damaged in the Israeli attack. About 4,000 Palestinians were displaced during the attack. UNRWA reported damage to 4 of its schools and 1 of its health clinics in the camp. The Latin Church said that its Holy Redeemer Church in Jenin was severely damaged. Israeli forces also violently dispersed Palestinian protesters in Kafr Dan, injuring Palestinians with live ammunition and baton rounds. Elsewhere, Israeli forces violently dispersed Palestinian protesters in al-Bireh, injuring 2 with live ammunition. Israeli forces also issued stop-work orders for 1 agricultural structure and 1 house and a demolition order for 1 agricultural structure in al-Karmil near Yatta. Israeli settlers threw stones at Palestinian-owned vehicles near Jericho, causing damage. Israeli settlers also raided Deir Dibwan, shooting and injuring 1 Palestinian and throwing stones at vehicles. 20 Palestinians were arrested during late-night raids in Halhul, Jalazun refugee camp, Husan, Tubas, Nablus, and Qalqilya. In Gaza, Israeli forces shot and injured 4 Palestinians protesting Israel’s attack on Jenin at the Gaza fence west of Gaza City. In Tel Aviv, 1 Palestinian was shot and killed after he rammed a car into several Israelis before stabbing others, injuring 8. Israeli forces subsequently raided the family home of the Palestinian man killed in Tel Aviv in as-Samou taking measurements for a punitive demolition. In the West Bank, Israeli settlers uprooted 20 olive tree saplings and stole a water tank in Umm Safa. Israeli forces raided Jenin, killing 7 Palestinians, including 2 minors, and injuring 91. 7 Israeli soldiers were injured by an IED; an Israeli combat helicopter subsequently fired on Palestinians while the wounded soldiers were extracted from Jenin. It was the first time since the Second Intifada that combat helicopters were deployed in the West Bank. Among the Palestinian wounded were a clearly marked journalist and a Palestinian minor who was struck by gunfire while at her home. 2 Palestinians were arrested. 7 Israeli vehicles were damaged and left in Jenin. The Palestinian Red Crescent said Israeli forces had fired live ammunition at 4 Palestinian ambulances during the raid. The PA called the incident a “recurring massacre.” Israeli forces also shot and killed 1 Palestinian and injured 2 others with live ammunition during a raid in Husan. Elsewhere, Israeli forces opened fire at a Palestinian vehicle near Tura, injuring 2 who had allegedly rammed 1 Israeli soldier. Israeli forces also demolished a structure in Qalandia. 14 Palestinians were arrested during late-night raids in Jenin refugee camp, Beita, al-Fara’a refugee camp, Hebron, al-Mughayyir, and Jalazun refugee camp. Israeli finance minister and de facto West Bank governor Bezalel Smotrich called for a “broad operation to eradicate terrorists’ nests” in the West Bank after the Israeli raid in Jenin, saying the raid was “tweezer activity.” UN human rights commissioner Volker Türk expressed “extreme” worry about Israel’s excessive use of forces and extrajudicial killings. PLO secretary-general Hussein al-Sheikh met with U.S. assistant secretary of state for near eastern affairs Barbara Leaf in Ramallah. Al-Sheikh called on the U.S. to pressure Israel to end its unilateral measures and stop its deadly raids. (WAFA 6/19)

Israeli national security advisor Tzachi Hanegbi acknowledged that the Israeli hope of direct flights between Israel and Saudi Arabia for this year’s Hajj would not happen. Israel had been pushing for the flights to show that Israel and Saudi Arabia were nearing a normalization deal. (HA, REU 6/19)

Saudi Arabia barred an Israeli diplomat, who had received an invitation, from an event in Paris where Saudi crown prince Mohammed bin Salman was delivering a speech. (HA 6/23)

An anti-BDS bill was introduced to the British House of Commons by Levelling Up Secretary Michael Gove. The bill, which would prevent local councils and universities from boycotting Israel and companies that trade with Israel, will have to pass 5 stages to become law. The European Commission’s Trade Department issued new guidelines forcing importers to declare if products are made in Israeli settlements in the West Bank, East Jerusalem, or the Golan Heights. The guidelines were made to ensure that settlement products are not tariff exempt in the EU the same way that Israeli products are. (HA 6/19)

In the West Bank, Israeli forces shot and killed 2 Palestinians during a late-night raid in Jenin refugee camp. 1 of the Palestinians was killed by an Israeli sniper while providing first aid to the other person who was shot. 3 Palestinians were injured by live ammunition and 1 Israeli soldier was reportedly injured by an explosive device. 15 Palestinians were arrested during late-night raids in Yatta, Beit Umar, Tuqu’, Jenin refugee camp, and Tubas. In East Jerusalem, 1 Palestinian family demolished their own home in the Old City. 7 Palestinians were arrested during raids in Ras al-Amud and Shu‘fat refugee camp. Israel released Maher Younis, the second-longest serving Palestinian prisoner, from the Eshel prison. Younis was convicted in 1983 for killing an Israeli soldier in the Golan Heights in 1980 and is a cousin of Karim Younis who was released two weeks ago. Israel’s national security minister Itamar Ben-Gvir had ordered Israeli police to disperse the celebration of his release if Palestinian flags were waived. U.S. national security advisor Jake Sullivan met PA president Mahmoud Abbas in Ramallah. President Abbas urged National Security Advisor Sullivan to intervene against Israeli unilateral actions that hinder the prospects for peace and stability. Earlier in the day, Sullivan met with Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Foreign Minister Eli Cohen, and Defense Minister Yoav Gallant during the second day of his 2-day trip to Israel. Prime Minister Netanyahu said he and Sullivan discussed efforts to make a normalization deal with Saudi Arabia. In an interview with Bloomberg TV, Saudi foreign minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud said that Saudi Arabia will not normalize relations with Israel without an agreement to create a Palestinian state. In the West Bank, Israeli forces shot and killed 1 Palestinian minor during a late-night raid in Jenin refugee camp where Islamic Jihad commander Bassam al-Saadi was arrested after being shot and injured; 2 others were also arrested during the raid at al-Saadi’s home. A general strike was declared in Jenin after the killing and arrests. Israeli forces also violently dispersed Palestinian protesters in Bayt Dajan, injuring 22 with baton rounds and 75 others with tear gas. Elsewhere, Israeli forces delivered stop-work orders for 3 houses and 1 demolition order for a house in Kafr ad-Dik. Israeli forces also demolished 1 car wash in Bizarya and 1 home in Sabastiyya, displacing 8. 16 Palestinians were arrested during late-night raids in Ya‘bad, Nablus, al-Far‘a refugee camp, al-Ama‘ari refugee camp, Jannatah, and al-Azza refugee camp; 4 Palestinians were injured by live ammunition while protesting the raid in al-Far‘a refugee camp. Haaretz reported that Egyptian military intelligence officials were meeting with leaders of militant factions in Gaza to prevent a response to the arrest to Islamic Jihad commander al-Saadi (see above).
