Other Countries: Former National Security Adviser Robert McFarlane acknowledges U.S. relied on Israel's analysis of Iranian political situation [NYT 1/17]. W. Germany states willingness to extradite Muhammad Hamadi to U.S. for trial if U.S. agrees not to seek the death penalty, which is forbidden by the W. German constitution. Italian officials are investigating to determine whether there is a "link" between Hamadi and a Lebanese arrested at Milan airport 1/12. Both men arrived from Beirut and were found to be carrying explosives [WP 1/17].
