Palestinian newspaper reports that Acting U.S. Secy. of State Eagleburger has sent a letter of assurances to the Palestinian delegation stressing that the U.S. is seeking "the transitional period [which] will be the beginning of the end of Israeli occupation." (al-Quds 10/16 in FBIS 10/19)

Poll of 1,100 Israeli citizens shows that 50% oppose any territorial concession on the Golan Heights, even in the event of full peace with Syria, 37% are willing to return parts, 10% are willing to return entire territory.
