Israeli-Palestinian clashes continue, leaving 1 Palestinian dead. After Palestinians fire a mortar at Atzmona settlement in Gaza, causing no injuries, the IDF deploys helicopter gunships to hover over Gaza City. The IDF also directs shells, heavy machine gun fire at residential areas of Beitunia (hitting an elementary school occupied by over 700 students, causing damage but no injuries), al-Khadir, Khan Yunis. Israel partially lifts a ban on Palestinian laborers, issuing 3,200 entry permits; expects 1,000 Palestinians to resume jobs in Israel on 4/10. Israel also apologizes for the shooting incident at the Erez crossing on 4/4, however a U.S.-brokered mtg. btwn. Israeli, PA security officials, planned early in the day, is canceled by the PA.
