The IDF makes a brief incursion into s. Gaza to level land inside the no-go zone e. of Abasan to clear lines of sight. In the Old City of Jerusalem, 4 armed Jewish settlers beat a blind Palestinian man; when other Palestinians move to protect the blind man, 10s of Israeli settlement guards and police intervene, beating back the Palestinians and arresting 1 (released on 8/14 but expelled fr. the Old City for 15 days).
