In the Gaza Strip, a 72-hour cease-fire begins at 8:00 A.M. local time. The IDF withdraws grounds forces, which are, according to the IDF, “redeployed in defensive positions outside the Gaza Strip.” Shortly before the cease-fire begins, al-Qassam Brigades fires a salvo of rockets, with 1 hitting a house in Bayt Sahur nr. Bethlehem, causing damage but no injuries. During the day, the cease-fire holds. In the West Bank, the IDF conducts house searches and arrest raids in Jenin r.c. in the morning. Additional Islamic Jihad and Hamas reps. join the Palestinian delegation in Cairo. Israel sends officials to join the discussions. Israel’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson Ofer Gendelman says that Israel is willing to agree to the rebuilding of the Gaza Strip in exchange for the disarmament of the armed groups. Meanwhile, Palestinian FM al-Maliki visits the ICC in The Hague to meet with prosecutors concerning evidence of war crimes committed by Israel in Gaza.
