The IDF continues its assault on the Gaza Strip, conducting air strikes and advancing its ground offensive. Israeli attacks kill 144 Palestinians. In air strikes on 3 homes in Khan Yunis, 13 Palestinians from the same family are killed. Israeli tank fire hits Gaza’s only power plant, partially destroying it and further cutting electricity to Gaza City and other parts of the territory. The plant’s director says that it is “finished.” Meanwhile, the IDF gives evacuation orders to more than 400,000 residents of n. Gaza. Armed Palestinian groups fire rockets into Israel, with air raid sirens in Ashqelon and nr. Jerusalem, among other places. Iron Dome batteries intercept 1 rocket above the Gush Etzion settlement bloc nr. Bethlehem, a projectile claimed by al-Quds Brigades. In the West Bank, a Palestinian dies in Hebron, succumbing to injuries he received in clashes with IDF troops on 7/20. The IDF conducts house searches and arrest raids into 1 village nr. PLO official Yasir ‘Abid Rabbuh announces that the various factions agreed to a 24-hour truce, but his claim is subsequently denied by Hamas.
