In Gaza, telecom operator Jawwal reopens following an agreement with Hamas; there are no details released. In the West Bank, Palestinian assailants shoot and injure an Israeli settler nr. Qalqilya. IDF troops conduct late-night raids and house searches in 2 villages nr. Hebron, arresting 2 Palestinians; patrol during the day in 2 villages nr. Hebron, ‘Ayn al-Sultan r.c. and 1 village nr. Jericho. In East Jerusalem, an Israeli police jeep rams a Palestinian girl, moderately injuring her. Senior Fatah official Amin Maqboul says that the PLO’s talks on forming a new consensus govt. continue, despite Hamas’s objections to the process. Maqboul says that Hamas has demanded that any new govt. pay the salaries of all employees of the Hamas-run govt. in Gaza and describes the demand as among several “preconditions that widen the gap between the Gaza Strip and West Bank.” (MNA 7/6)
