Amid ongoing tensions in East Jerusalem, around 60 Israeli settlers move into an empty building in Silwan overnight, sparking clashes between their escort of Israeli forces and Palestinians (dozens of Palestinians are hurt). In Gaza, a small Islamist group fires a small rocket toward Israel; it falls short of the border fence. The group takes responsibility later in the day, saying that it was retaliation for the IDF’s raid in Jenin on 8/31. The Israeli authorities then close the Erez border crossing for 2 hours in response. Meanwhile, Israeli forces level land in a limited incursion across the border fence e. of Gaza City. In the West Bank, IDF troops arrest a PA security forces (PASF) officer at a checkpoint s. of Nablus; patrol in 3 villages nr. Hebron; conduct late-night house searches and raids in al-‘Arub r.c. and outside Hebron, Jenin, and Ramallah, arresting 6 Palestinians. They also search homes in Jalazun r.c. nr.
