The Israeli authorities shut down border crossings to and from the West Bank and Gaza Strip this evening, with an exception for humanitarian cases. They plan to keep the crossings closed until 5/2, Israel’s Independence Day. (MNA, TOI 4/29; HA, JP 4/30; PCHR 5/4)
Approximately 100 Palestinian prisoners join the Dignity Strike that 1,500 of their fellow hunger-striking prisoners declared on 4/17 (the IPS says that there are only around 1,200 participating). Meanwhile, Israeli forces forcibly disperse Palestinians holding a sit-in in c. Bethlehem in solidarity with the prisoners.
