Addressing the UNGA in New York, PA pres. Abbas reiterates his support for a 2-state solution, promises to send PA officials to take control of Gaza next week, and expresses hope for U.S. pres. Trump to forge a “historic” Palestinian-Israeli peace agreement. He says the Palestinians are giving Trump’s efforts a chance, but that they will ask for equal status within the international community if Israel undermines the U.S. efforts.
