Israel’s High Court of Justice holds a hearing on the fate of Khan al-Ahmar, the West Bank Bedouin village the Israeli government intends to evacuate and demolish. Two of the three judges reaffirm their view that the evacuation and demolition cannot be avoided. The entire panel calls on the lawyers on both sides to compromise on a new relocation plan because the villagers have rejected the government’s proposal, which would move them to a site near a garbage dump outside Abu Dis.
