A flotilla of 40 boats sets sail from the Gazan shore in a symbolic effort to challenge the Israeli blockade. The organizers, who frame the protest in the context of the ongoing Great March of Return, state, “We want the world to see the reality of the blockade and the suffering of the people of Gaza, and we will not accept anything less than lifting the blockade once and for all.” Israeli naval forces fire warning shots at the boats, causing no reported injuries, forcing them to turn back to shore.
