Trump’s 12/6 recognition of Jerusalem as Israel’s capital; 2 Palestinians are moderately injured. In the West Bank, Israeli settlers set up residential tents on Palestinian-owned land near Nablus, establishing a new illegal settlement outpost. IDF troops conduct raids in Salim village near Nablus, sparking minor clashes with the residents; 1 Palestinian is injured. The IDF arrests 10 Palestinians during late-night raids near Hebron, Jenin, and Nablus; and patrols near Qalqilya and Hebron. On Twitter, U.S. pres. Trump threatens to withhold future economic aid to the Palestinians because they are “no longer willing to talk peace” with Israel. Earlier, U.S. ambassador to the UN Haley responds to a question about U.S. support for Palestinians, and UNRWA in particular, by saying that the Trump administration plans to cut U.S. aid unless the Palestinians re-engage in the U.S. peace initiative.
