More than 44,502 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli forces in Gaza, including at least 17,500 children and 11,487 women, and around 105,454 have been injured since 10/7/2023. At least 10,000 people are missing in rubble. 805 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli forces and settlers in the West Bank and East Jerusalem since 10/7/2023, including 170 children. More than 6,500 people have been injured. Israel reports that 1,139 Israelis and foreign nationals have been killed and 5,400 have been injured in Israel since 10/7/2023, including Israeli soldiers. The Palestinian Prisoners Society says Israel has arrested 11,900 Palestinians in the West Bank and East Jerusalem since 10/7/2023, including 790 children and 136 journalists, and at least 47 Palestinians have died in Israeli custody. B’Tselem releases a report on Israel’s abuse of Palestinians who have been arbitrarily arrested in Hebron between May and August 2024. In the report, 25 Palestinians describe being subjected to violence, humiliation, and abuse by Israeli soldiers after being detained; all were released shortly after the abuse. French president Emmanuel Macron announces that he and Saudi crown prince Mohammed bin Salman will co-chair a conference in June next year on the establishment of a Palestinian state. Macron makes the announcement after he and bin Salman met in Riyadh, where the 2 also called for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza. The announcement is made before 157 UN members vote in favor of General Assembly resolution “Peaceful settlement of the Palestinian Question,” which calls for holding a 2-state solution peace conference in New York from June 2-4 2025. 8 UN members oppose the resolution, including Israel, the U.S. Hungary, and Argentina, while 7 abstain.
