Following a divestment campaign led by Palestinian solidarity activists, a spokesperson for Leeds University tells the school’s student newspaper that the university has divested from Airbus, United Technologies, and Keyence Corporation. The holdings reportedly comprised $1.2 million. The activists called for the university to divest from HSBC as well, but the $1.7 million investment Leeds holds in HSBC reportedly remains unchanged. Hamas announces that it is constructing a new security barrier along Gaza’s border with Egypt, including new guard posts, lighting, and cameras. At the Saban Forum at the Brookings Institute in Washington, Israeli defense minister (DM) Avigdor Lieberman says that the Knesset should postpone work on the so-called regulations bill, which would retroactively authorize all of Israel’s illegal settlement outposts in the West Bank, including Amona, until U.S. pres.-elect Donald Trump takes office. “The key to the future of the settlements is reaching understandings with the U.S. on this issue,” he says.
