Occupied Palestine/Israel: Foreign Min. Shamir calls for death penalty against Palestinians convicted of especially cruel murders [JP 7/26].

Arab World: Lebanese military investigator says he has referred 4 suspects in the 1983 bombing of the U.S. embassy in Lebanon to military court for trial; has recommended the death penalty if they are convicted. The 4 include 2 Lebanese, a Palestinian, and an Egyptian. Two are also charged with bombing the Iraqi embassy in Lebanon in 1981 [NYT 7/25].
