In the Gaza Strip, Israeli authorities reopen the Kerem Shalom border crossing, after 4 days of closure. In the West Bank, the IDF conducts house searches and arrest raids in 1 village each nr. Ramallah and Tulkarm; patrols in 2 villages nr. Hebron. (MNA 11/4; PCHR 11/6)

Midterm elections are held in the U.S., and Republicans win enough seats to control both chambers of the 114th Congress—9 in the Senate, for a total of 54, and 13 in the House, for a total of 247. The 114th Congress, which will be convened on 1/6/15, is widely expected to pass new legislation adding restrictions and oversight to the ongoing negotiations between Iran and the P5+1 group, among other issues.
