In the West Bank, Israeli settlers from the Kiryat Arba settlement, with military protection, threw stones and bottles at Palestinians in Hebron. Israeli forces raided al-Ibrahimi Mosque, closing it to Palestinians for the Jewish celebration of Yom Kippur. Israeli forces also raided the General Trade Union of Workers in Services and Entrepreneurship Sector in Ramallah, seizing computers and documents. Elsewhere, Israeli forces seized 2 concrete mixers and 1 crane in Qarawat Bani Hassan. 5 Palestinians were arrested during late-night raids in Ramallah, Ya‘bad, and Huwwara. Aid donated by Qatar began distribution in supermarkets and money exchange shops in Gaza. The UN said $40 million will be distributed to vulnerable Palestinians in Gaza. Contrary to previous donations, the Qatari aid is only being distributed to vulnerable families and not to government employees. The Palestinian Prisoners’ Club said the mass hunger strike set to begin on 9/17 had been called off because the Israeli prison service agreed to halt the collective punishment measures put in place after 6 Palestinians escaped Gilboa prison on 9/6. The Commission for Detainees and Ex-Prisoners Affairs said, after a lawyer visited the 4 recaptured Palestinian prisoners who escaped Gilboa prison on 9/6, that Zakaria Zubeidi had been severely beaten and drugged by Israeli forces. He allegedly suffered from a broken jaw and broken ribs for which he was hospitalized, had bruises and cuts all over and had been sedated. The Commission also said Mohammad Arda had been beaten, sleep deprived, and humiliated while in Israeli custody. Both denied Israeli officials’ allegations that they had any interaction with anyone after escaping.
