The Sudanese news website al-Sudani reported that a delegation of Mossad agents had visited Sudan shortly after General Abdel-Fattah al-Burhan led a military coup against the transitional government. A Sudanese delegation of defense and intel officials had visited Israel a few weeks prior to the coup. Israeli media speculated if Israel had assisted Sudan’s military in the coup, given the suspicious visits and Israel’s interest in maintaining a path toward a final normalization agreement with the country. Saddam Haftar, son of and aide to Libyan warlord Khalifa Haftar, visited Israel ahead of the Libyan presidential elections scheduled for 12/24.
