In the West Bank, IDF troops shoot and wound a Palestinian nr. Hebron as he was trying to cross the separation wall to reach work inside the Green Line. The IDF conducts house searches and arrest raids in Bethlehem and 1 nearby village at night, and patrols in 2 villages and al-‘Arub r.c. nr Hebron also at night. (MNA 8/28; PCHR 8/29)

U.S. State Dept. dep. spokesperson Marie Harf says that a res. condemning the Syrian govt.’s alleged use of poison gas has stalled in the UNSC due to Russian opposition. Meanwhile, Israel orders a small-scale mobilization of reservists and deploys a missile shield in the n. by way of precautions ahead of a possible U.S.-led strike against Syria. Despite these measures, an unnamed senior IDF official tells the media that the actual likelihood of a Syrian retaliatory strike on Israel remains low.
