In the West Bank, Israeli forces shot and killed 1 Palestinian and injured 1 other at the entrance to the Psagot settlement near al-Bireh. Israeli forces also violently dispersed Palestinian protesters in Kafr Qaddum, injuring 4 with baton rounds and others with tear gas. Israeli forces also violently dispersed Palestinian protesters in Bayt Dajan, injuring 3 with bullet shrapnel, including a doctor and a health worker and 23 others with tear gas. The Israeli chief of the military central command, Yehuda Fuchs, banned the Israeli settler Elisha Yered from entering the West Bank for 5 months and from contacting 5 other settlers. Yered is 1 of 2 main suspects in the killing of a Palestinian man in Burqa on 8/4. (HA 9/29)

Reuters reported that the Israeli refusal to offer concessions to Palestinians as part of the Israel-Saudi Arabia normalization deal will not hold up the deal, according to 3 sources Reuters spoke to. Axios reported that U.S. president Joe Biden and Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu agreed to a provision in the normalization deal that would preserve the prospect of a peace deal between Israel and Palestine during their meeting on 9/20. The UN Independent International Commission of Inquiry on the Occupied Palestinian Territory, including East Jerusalem, and in Israel, issued a position paper on the legality of the Israeli occupation to the ICJ for the court’s assessment of the issue, saying the occupation is unlawful under international law.
