In the West Bank, IDF troops shoot and injure 1 Palestinian nr. Hebron with live ammunition, as he was reportedly seen “damaging the security fence” (according to Israeli military sources). The IDF conducts house searches and arrest raids in Bethlehem and 1 nearby village and Dahaysha r.c., 2 villages nr. Hebron, and 1 village each nr. Qalqilya, Ramallah and Tulkarm at night. PA Pres. Mahmud Abbas tells German television that despite the reports, the negotiations with Israel have not reached a dead end. Asked whether a lack of Palestinian national unit complicated the possibility of reaching a deal, Abbas says he speaks for the entire Palestinian people. Meanwhile, Hamas PM Ismail Haniyeh calls for a “popular uprising” in the West Bank, and a renewal of resistance, as well as urging Palestinians to reject new negotiations with Israel for fear of jeopardizing the Palestinian issue.
