U.S. vice president and presumptive Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris meets with Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu. A readout of their conversation says Harris expressed concern over settler violence and settlement expansion. After the meeting Harris reads a statement saying “what has happened in Gaza over the past 9 months is devastating … We cannot allow ourselves to become numb to the suffering, and I will not be silent,” before calling the situation complex and nuanced. UAE minister of state for international cooperation Reem Al Hashimy says there is a need for an international mission to address the security and humanitarian assistance needs in Gaza. Hashimy says the mission must put Gaza on a pathway to reunification with the West Bank under PA rule.
