In the West Bank, Israeli settlers assault Palestinian shepherds near Bardala. Israeli settlers also expand a settlement outpost near al-Jiftlik. Israeli forces raid Jenin and Jenin refugee camp for the 16th day in a row, continuing the siege of the Jenin Governmental Hospital, damaging the entrance to the hospital and the street leading to it. Israeli forces also raid Tulkarm and its refugee camp for the 10th day in a row. Elsewhere, Israeli forces continue raids in Tammun and al-Far’a refugee camp for the fourth day in a row, imposing a curfew in Tammun until 2/7, demolishing a mosque, and damaging infrastructure. Israeli forces also arrest 30 Palestinians during late-night raids in and around Tulkarm, Tubas, Hebron, Ramallah, Nablus, Qalqilya, and Jerusalem. More than 47,552 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli forces in Gaza, including at least 17,881 children and 12,287 women, and around 111,629 have been injured since 10/7/2023. In addition, 14,222 Palestinians who have been missing are presumed dead. 902 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli forces and settlers in the West Bank and East Jerusalem since 10/7/2023, including 180 children. More than 6,500 people have been injured. Israel reports that 1,139 Israelis and foreign nationals have been killed and 5,400 have been injured in Israel since 10/7/2023, including Israeli soldiers. In addition, 408 Israeli soldiers have been killed and 2,485 injured in Gaza since the ground invasion began on 10/27/2023. Over 1.93 million Palestinians, nearly 85% of the population of Gaza, have been displaced since 10/7/2023. There has been a complete electricity blackout in Gaza since 10/12/2023 due to the Israeli blockade. 92% of all housing units in Gaza have been destroyed or severely damaged since 10/7/2023. In an interview with Yedioth Ahronoth and Israeli Channel 12, former Israeli defense minister Yoav Gallant says the current ceasefire deal was being discussed at the cabinet level in April 2024 and was ready by the summer but was opposed by former National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir and Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich. Gallant says the only difference between the current ceasefire agreement and the one discussed in April is that 110 extra Palestinian prisoners with life sentences have been added for release. U.S. secretary of defense Pete Hegseth says the military is prepared to look at all options for Gaza. White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt says President Trump’s plans for Gaza does not include funding for the displacement of Palestinians from Gaza and that the U.S. will not send troops to Gaza to occupy it. Secretary of State Marco Rubio suggests that the displacement of Palestinians would be temporary, contradicting Trump. Rubio also says that Trump has offered to be responsible for the reconstruction of Gaza. Representative Al Green (D-TX) says he is introducing impeachment articles against President Trump over his comments about displacing Palestinians in Gaza to other countries. Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu tells Fox News that Trump’s plan for Gaza is “remarkable” and should be pursued and suggests that Palestinians may come back after being relocated. UN secretary-general Antonio Guterres says in a speech to the UN Committee on the Exercise of the Inalienable Rights of the Palestinian People that the Palestinian people’s right to live as human beings in their own land is “steadily slip[ping] farther out of reach,” and that there is “a chilling, systematic dehumanization and demonization of” the Palestinian people.
