In the West Bank, Israeli settlers assault and injure a Palestinian child in al-Tuba in the Masafer Yatta area. Israeli settlers also attack Palestinians and vandalize sheep pens and olive trees in Duma. Elsewhere, Israeli settlers and soldiers block the main street in Huwwara. Israeli forces expand the ongoing raids in Tulkarm and Tulkarm refugee camp to Nur Shams refugee camp, shooting and killing 3 Palestinians, including an 8-month pregnant woman, shooting and injuring a child and man, and causing widespread destruction. Israeli forces also raid Jenin and Jenin refugee camp for the 20th day in a row. Jenin deputy governor Mansour al-Saadi says more than 20,000 Palestinians have been displaced from the camp. Elsewhere, Israeli forces raid al-Far’a refugee camp for the eighth day in a row. Israeli forces also raid Tubas, taking measurements for a punitive demolition. In East Jerusalem, Israeli settlers tour the Haram al-Sharif compound. Israeli forces raid 2 Educational Bookstores shops, arresting their owners Ahmed and Mahmoud Muna and confiscating books. In Gaza, Israeli forces shoot and kill 3 Palestinians in Gaza City and an elderly woman in Khan Yunis. Israeli forces also shoot and injure a Palestinian man in Rafah. Meanwhile, Israeli forces complete the withdrawal of troops from the Netzarim Corridor. In Lebanon, Israeli forces bomb near the Syrian border, claiming they targeted a tunnel. More than 48,180 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli forces in Gaza, including at least 17,881 children and 12,287 women, and around 111,640 have been injured since 10/7/2023. In addition, 14,222 Palestinians who have been missing are presumed dead. 907 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli forces and settlers in the West Bank and East Jerusalem since 10/7/2023, including 182 children. More than 6,500 people have been injured. Israel reports that 1,139 Israelis and foreign nationals have been killed and 5,400 have been injured in Israel since 10/7/2023, including Israeli soldiers. In addition, 408 Israeli soldiers have been killed and 2,485 injured in Gaza since the ground invasion began on 10/27/2023. Over 1.93 million Palestinians, nearly 85% of the population of Gaza, have been displaced since 10/7/2023. There has been a complete electricity blackout in Gaza since 10/12/2023 due to the Israeli blockade. 92% of all housing units in Gaza have been destroyed or severely damaged since 10/7/2023. U.S. president Donald Trump reiterates that he is serious about the U.S. owning Gaza and displacing Palestinians, telling reporters “[w]e will take care of the Palestinians and make sure they are not murdered. We will make Gaza into a good site for future development,” describing Gaza as a “big real estate site.” Trump also shares on social media an opinion piece from the Israel National News website praising the idea of the U.S. taking ownership of Gaza and suggesting that Trump endorses Israel’s annexation of the West Bank. German chancellor Olaf Scholz says during a debate with his CDU counterpart Fridrich Merz that Trump’s proposal to ethnically cleanse Palestinians from Gaza is “a scandal and an appalling idea.” Merz says he agrees with Scholz’s assessment of Trump’s proposal. Turkish president Recep Tayyip Erdogan calls discussion of Trump’s plan “completely futile,” saying it was conceived “under pressure of the Zionist lobby.” Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu tells his cabinet that Trump’s plan is “revolutionary.” A poll conducted by CBS finds that 13% of Americans approve of Trump’s idea to take control of Gaza. A dancer in rapper Kendrick Lamar’s Super Bowl halftime show is tackled and detained after unfurling a combined Sudanese and Palestinian flag with the words “Sudan” and “Gaza” written on it.
