In the West Bank, Israeli forces continue raids in Jenin and Jenin refugee camp for the 22nd day in a row, punitively demolishing a home in Jenin refugee camp and assaulting 6 Palestinians at the Jalamah checkpoint. Israeli forces also continue raids in Tulkarm, Tulkarm refugee camp, and Nur Shams refugee camp for the 16th day in a row, blocking ambulance from entering Nur Shams. Elsewhere, Israeli forces continue raids in al-Far’a refugee camp for the 10th day in a row, demolishing a café and parts of a home. Israeli forces also shoot and kill a Palestinian man in Sa’ir and injure 2 others, including a 10-year-old boy. Meanwhile, Israeli forces shoot and injure 3 Palestinians during a raid in al-Arroub refugee camp. Israeli forces also demolish a home in Ibziq, displacing 16 people. Separately, Israeli forces seize a tractor in Bardala. Israeli forces also arrest 5 Palestinians during late-night raids in al-Bireh, Jalazone refugee camp, and Tammun. More than 48,219 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli forces in Gaza, including at least 17,881 children and 12,287 women, and around 111,655 have been injured since 10/7/2023. In addition, 14,222 Palestinians who have been missing are presumed dead. 908 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli forces and settlers in the West Bank and East Jerusalem since 10/7/2023, including 182 children. More than 6,500 people have been injured. Israel reports that 1,139 Israelis and foreign nationals have been killed and 5,400 have been injured in Israel since 10/7/2023, including Israeli soldiers. In addition, 408 Israeli soldiers have been killed and 2,579 injured in Gaza since the ground invasion began on 10/27/2023. Over 1.93 million Palestinians, nearly 85% of the population of Gaza, have been displaced since 10/7/2023. There has been a complete electricity blackout in Gaza since 10/12/2023 due to the Israeli blockade. 92% of all housing units in Gaza have been destroyed or severely damaged since 10/7/2023. The UN estimates that it will cost $53 billion to rebuild Gaza. Al Mezan Center for Human Rights says one of its lawyers met with Kamal Adwan Hospital director Dr. Hussam Abu Safiya at the Ofer Prison. It was the first time that Abu Safiya has been allowed to meet with a lawyer since he was abducted 47 days ago. Abu Safiya tells his lawyer that he was held at the Sde Teiman detention camp where he was subject to “torture and inhuman and degrading treatment,” including electric shocks and beatings. He has been held at the Ofer Prison in solitary confinement for 25 days and has lost 26 pounds since being taken from Gaza. (AJ, AJ, AP, WAFA 2/12)

The owners of the Educational Bookshop, Ahmad and Mahmoud Muna, are released from Israeli detention to house arrest for 5 days and are prohibited from returning to their bookstore for 20 days. The UK ambassador to Israel Simon Walters criticizes the arrests, calling it disproportionate to the allegations raised in court on 2/10. Jordanian king Abdullah II and U.S. president Donald Trump meets at the White House. Trump says during a presser that his plan to displace all Palestinians from Gaza to Egypt and Jordan and for the U.S. to take control of Gaza remains. Trump also responds to a question about Israeli plans to annex the West Bank, saying “[t]hat is going to work out.” King Abdullah says Arab states will present a plan to the U.S. for the future of Gaza and that Jordan will take in 2,000 sick Palestinian children. Trump also retract his threat to withhold aid from Jordan and Egypt to pressure them to resettle Palestinians from Gaza and reiterates his demand that Hamas releases all captives by noon on Saturday. After the meeting, Egypt and Jordan release statements rejecting the idea of displacing Palestinians from Gaza. King Abdullah tweets that he “reiterated Jordan’s steadfast position against the displacement of Palestinians in Gaza and the West Bank” to Trump during the meeting. Egyptian president Abdel Fattah el-Sisi discuss Trump’s plan with Danish prime minister Mette Frederiksen. The Saudi cabinet, chaired by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, issues a statement categorically rejecting the “extremist Israeli statements suggesting the forced displacement of Palestinians.” U.S. secretary of state Marco Rubio tweets that there will be no peace in the Middle East as long as Hamas controls territory, saying “Hamas is evil. Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu says after a 4-hour long security cabinet meeting that Israel will resume “intense fighting” in Gaza if all captives are not released by noon on Saturday. Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich calls on Netanyahu to “open the gates of Hell” on Hamas if the captives are not released on Saturday and that Israel should seize 5% of Gaza per captive that is harmed. Syrian president Ahmed al-Sharaa says in an interview that President Trump’s plan to displace Palestinians from Gaza will fail, calling it a serious crime. New Lebanese prime minister Nawaf Salam says in an interview that Arab solidarity is needed to stop the U.S.-Israeli plan to “eliminate the Palestinian state.” (AJ 2/12)
