In the West Bank, the IDF conducts house searches and arrest raids in Jenin in the morning, in 1 village nr. Ramallah in the afternoon; patrols in 3 villages nr. Ramallah and 1 village nr. It is reported that former U.S. amb. to Israel Martin Indyk will likely head the U.S. delegation to peace talks. Senior Fatah official Nabil Shaath says that a return to direct negotiations is still subject to conditions, while Israeli economics and trade minister Naftali Bennett insists that construction on Jewish settlements will continue regardless. Meanwhile, the Arab League’s Dep. Secy.-Gen. for Palestinian Affairs Mohamed Sabih says that the body supports the Palestinian stance on resuming talks and that it is sceptical of Israeli intentions.
